I just have to be honest. After pouring my heart and soul into a couple of online relationships that didn't work out....I figure it's best to protect myself by not giving all of my heart til I fully know a guy.
Would telling a guy this offend him?

well...it shoudnt be...and even if it did offend him..you're just telling the truth. loving someone on the internet, you think you know everything about them...and what if you're wrong? I think what you're doing is smart...and you shouldnt put yourself in that position without truley knowing if its worth it.

Congratulations!!!! You finally learned what can happen when you take people at their word when online. If he becomes offended by your statement, that just means that he was a jerk in the first place. Anyone with any kind of sense would realize that you have to know a person, and be around them before you can truly fall in love. You could lie and tell him that you are the most beautiful woman on earth. If he fell in love with that idea in his mind, he would not feel love when he met you, if you were horribly unattractive. What if you told him that you were 20 and you were actually 50? Ask him how he would feel. Just tell him that you are protecting yourself from being disappointed, or worse yet, hurt.

No, I don't think its offensive, I think you did a smart and right thing. Our feelings and emotions are a powerful thing and why wouldn't we want to protect ourselves from possible hurt whenever we can. Plus, if its real love online, eventually u will need to meet in person to see if the love transcends into real life, so its only wise after getting hurt in previous "online" relationships to meet in person b4 commiting your heart into any more online affairs...

I wouldn't say it's offensive, no. If you look at it a certain way, it perhaps can even be interpreted as a compliment. "I can't fully let myself fall in love." That implies that you have to stop yourself from falling in love, so without your self control, you'd do the aforesaid.

if it offends him, then it wasn't worth it from the start. I believe that you cannot truly love someone you have never met, so I think you are headed in the right direction. If he doesn't like it, too bad. There are plenty of other fish in the sea for you.

no, it wouldnt offend a guy who is serious. i think that if a guy is really serious about a certain relationship, he will understand you and he will most probably respect you all the more for saying how you really feel and for being honest with him.

well I don't date online, but if I did I would agree with that, but hay that's just me. if this guy doesn't like what you have determand, then he wasn't right for you and you should move on, but if he does agree then go for it. it should not be ofensive to whant to get to know someone.
