First of all, I am a Christian but my sister asked me a question I couldn't answer so I am asking this group. My sister and her husband watched the Da Vinci Code and asked me a question I couldn't answer. How come the Bible doesn't talk about Jesus from his teen age years until after age 30? She wants me to watch this movie and I told her that Hollywood is not always factually with things. Could someone answer this question for me?

Dan Brown admitted that there is very little fact in the Da Vinci Code. Anyway the book is better.

Jesus did not become a profit until he was about 30 before that it was likely he was a carpenter.

Da Vinci Code is just an exploitative box office hit. If your religion means anything real to you in your life you do not have to justify it to anyone. Get on with it and be strong.

Watch Dogma. Its because Jesus' life in between the ages of 12 and 30 were heavily influenced by his brothers and sisters.

as a catholic, there's this part in the bible about "the 18 hidden years of christ" nobody really knows what happen to him during those years, there were even rumors that mary magdalene became jesus' girlfriend, well there really is a possibility that jesus had a girlfriend but he knows his limit. there's nothing wrong about having a gf/bf because its a part of our life and feelings to others.
da vinci code is a fictitious story about christ, it's very easy to make stories but very hard to believe unless you'll witness it.

Jesus has a right to privacy like the rest of us. His ministry and what he taught was the most important from the view point of the writers. It was new age thinking at the time. Most people thought that the rulers were god-men, Jesus came to dispel that myth. You could get killed for that kind of thinking in those days.

well ya hollywood isn't usually factual, but then again, neither is the bible. You do know that all the info about jesus was written far after he was supposed to be dead? Why did it take them that long to write about him? So, I would say the answer is, its all rubbish.

Even as an atheist, I have to point out that the Da Vinci Code is fiction. Keep that in mind.

But yeh, there are lots of holes and contradictions and fallacies in the bible. Get used to it.

Nothing noteworthy happened during those years. Would you feel better if there was a verse that said...

"and then he worked with his father and brothers as a carpenter for the next 18 years."

Maybe his life was pretty typical during that time period.

Famous figures in the Hebrew Bible also have large spans of their lives that aren't discussed. You can't include everything . . .
