Those people you are talking about are misguided and brainwashed. You show me one verse in the Qur'an that encourages violence. I am sure there are some verses that encourage fighting, but read the verse before as there lies your answer. Muslims are to fight when being attacked & that's it. In all these wars that the Prophet (PBUH) has gone through, did he start any of the bettles? Believe me the answer is: NO.

Name a region in the middle east that has been free of war, or inner struggle. They live supposedly by Islamic law but they kill young girls that have been rape, they behead people in prisons, they chop off hands, they forbid people to have freedom of what they wear or what they actually do. This does not promote purity, instead it is like a tight leash on a people, and it explodes in many ways. One way is Terrorism because these Taliban type believe (brain washed) that they are the only good in the world and that any one that does not follow Islam should perish by the sword or be contained. Their mission is to conquer the world. I have heard it told by a Muslim that the Quran says it is OK if your in a foreign land to lie, steal, or even murder to deceive the enemy the infidel. Because the unbeliever is evil.

Christians believe in telling the world about Christ but if they harm someone that does not convert to Christianity they then lose their own faith. Because Christ does condone such actions. Large difference between the two. I am not certain about the Jewish stand.

If you look at It. It is not just a merely instruction about morality. It look like a nation that greed to expansion their border. If there are some resistance then they some violent for destroy the resistance. Why use terrorism. It is because the real nation in the real world have their own politic power and they are accept the new world order. Each nation not need to break a peace and go to war with each other.
But the fanatic one need their expansion and can not accept some nation in area that they think must be their area.
So they go terrorism go to war by it self. Look like DIY war.

Someone said that it all depends upon how you interpret the text. BALONEY, there is no text that says to go around killing innocents. Not in the Qur'an, no way. There IS no confusing text whatsoever in the Qur'an on the subject of killing. PERIOD.

The Qur'an does NOT teach terrorism, get the facts straight. It has NOT lead people to terrorism. These loons have their own agenda, and they use religion as an excuse to do their dirty work, plain and simple.

What do you make of the KKK? Would you call them true Christians? Hell no, 'cause what they preach and do has NOTHING to do with Godliness, whether Christian or otherwise. However, KKK members profess to be such good Christians, belonging to the (White) Christianity. Oh that's a load of bull, and everyone knows it.

Do not confuse terrorism with Islam. These FUKCING @SSHOLES have done a great disservice to both Muslims and non-Muslims. They have made it hard for Muslims because of the flack they get from the non-Muslims, and they have COMPLETELY CONFUSED non-Muslims into believing (without intelligent study, btw) that what they do is sanctioned by God. BULL CRAP!!!

This gets under my skin. For the umpteenth time, people, Islam DOES NOT teach terrorism. Please get your stinkin' facts straight!

EDIT: To the person above, you have taken some of the Qur'an OUT OF CONTEXT. Wherever Allah gives instruction to slay, this in NO WAY means that the Muslims are to go around, arbitrarily slaying every non-Muslim s/he sees. BALONEY. These instructions for slaying had their limits, and they were for <<<<>>>> OF COURSE God told them to slay the infidels, because the infidels were out to kill the Muslims. If they didn't slay the infidels, the infidels would have slain the Muslims!
IT IS IN SELF DEFENSE <<>> These infidels were not, I mean NOT innocents... they plotted to kill Muhammad and his followers. God was trying to HELP the Muslims, the ones who were being PERSECUTED. He was guiding them in how to SAVE THEIR OWN LIVES.

Saving one's own life by killing, lest one be killed. Do you call that terrorism? NO. Do you call that a command to kill innocents? NO WAY. The plotters were anything but innocent.

its all in how one interpits the text. one can read it for as it's supposed to be read. Another will read it to suit thier needs. Every major religion has its fanatics. This is seen throughout history, over and over again. hell even good ole christians get alil crazy.
People tend to use their religion as either a means to salvation or use it like a sword and shield.
terrrorism in its basic sense is a power thing. someone wants, they use anyone and everything to obtain what it is they want. And the strongest tool is to take centries old text and bend it to show weak minded people how they are right and the REST of the world is wrong.
And its not the Koran itself that is turning people into terrorists, its people. Like I said above, its the weak following a few "leaders."
These "leaders" promise new life, freedom, revenge, money and most of all power. And for those who are weak, its a drug they cant get enough of.

it's not the Qur'an that does that........ it's some people who read it and teach it to others...... you see, when u get a child and teach it terrorist stuff, then it will grow on that and be brainwashed....... in the Qur'an Allah speaks about people who are corrupt in their teaching of islam and who will lead muslims in the future..... it is these people that promote this extremism and fanatism..... after all u cant blame the religion and its book if the people misinterpret it..... killing innocents is by no means jihad......it is pure terrorism and you can't label a terrorist as muslim or christian or hindu or any other religion.... they are simply terrorists. that's all.

What really bugs me about this Muslim discussion is that it's true Christians are doing the same thing.
Fighting over doctrine and interpretation.
If we could just go back to the beginning and obey God from the start this could have been a really great world to live in.
Instead we have real religions with no God and nothing but good reasons to hate each other.
For me it's Jesus. I wish all could find their one true way.

The ans. is the the Question ....The teaching is wrong people are taught through dogmatic doctrines which in-turn allow individuals through the greed of power to keep those willing followers ignorant to the truth which most of the time leads to violence and hate.

i'm sorry but i have to say this, i know that there are muslims out there all over the world that wouldn't harm anyone, but for everyone who says that terrorist and violence aren't related to the koran, is a bold faced liar, when a man blows himself up in the name of allah killing thousands of people along with himself, or they declare jihad (holy war) and quote the koran while teaching young minds violence and destruction, you can't tell me that the koran is totally innocent and has nothing to do with it. maybe some doesn't practice these horrific things but you can't sit there and deny that terrorist aren't directly connected to the koran and islam. i understand your need to want to defend your religion, and you hate that these extremists are giving you a bad name and making things harder on you, and your beliefs, but you have to see it through others eyes. and admit that they are getting their twisted frame of minds for their koran.

Whether someone becomes a terrorist or not will depend on whether they act on the commands for violence or not.

2:191
And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

4:91
...If they keep not aloof from you nor offer you peace nor hold their hands, then take them and kill them wherever ye find them. Against such We have given you clear warrant.

9:5
Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

etc. etc.
