Last wk I posted about having swelling and soreness in my nose, was determined to be sinusitis. We've been staying in motel room on contract job for three months. We've been noticing a nasty musty smell for three weeks now, and it's only when the ac is on. Is it possible that there's mold in the ac, and that caused my strange problem? The filter is cleaned weekly. Could the two things be related???

Allergies. Anything that causes an allergic reaction, such as pollen, pet dander or dust mites, can trigger an attack response from your body. The results of this battle mimic the signs and symptoms of a cold, such as stuffy nose, itchy eyes and cough, and can cause congestion in the sinuses.
Mold in the sinuses. Some experts believe that chronic sinusitis is triggered by an allergic reaction to mold in the nasal cavity aswell.

Get the fabreeze air effects that plug into the wall. They have one that is supposed to not only make the room smell good but attack bacteria, its Orange. My sons room always smelled like a foot, and that's what I put in there it works good. Also maybe smell the carpet if you have any, if so may consider steam cleaning it. Carpet can get musty and even mold smell. Don't use the powder carpet stuff, all it does is sink down into the rug and create dust type allergies. Good luck and nothing wrong with being a clean guy

Could be if you have mold/dust allergies. Buy some Fabreeze spray "allergy reducing" type. Keep the AC off and buy a fan to run instead. Sprinkle baking soda on the carpet (you'll see if the cleaning people are actually vacuuming every day, plus it will help get rid of some of the dusty carpet smell. I'd also use my own linen to sleep on. At Whole Foods there is this homeopathic tincture that you put under your tongue for dust/mold allergies.

Strange. But that's about all I can think of too. Could it be that the mold is growing in the AC somewhere that is *not* being cleaned? Or even under or behind it?

Now- My mother can't stay in an air-conditioned environment too long: There's something about it that causes symptoms similar to yours. It could be that you simply have a similar sensitivity.

Good luck!
