I have a question for all those army admin types. I spent 26 1/2 years with active and reserve Navy. Recently I left the navy reserves and joined my state Nat Guard. I was recently handed a set of orders for OEF for 13-18 months.
I have a son that is 21 and a full time college student that I support while in school....rent, books, living expenses, tuition, etc, etc.
I was recently told by some army pay clerk that he isn't my dependent therefore while on OEF orders I won't recieve BAH for him. While with the Navy reserves when called to duty I recieved BAH, just had to provide a yearly update from his school showing he was full time and in good standing.
The clerk says Army pay regs are completely different from Navy pay regs. I understand that there might be SOME difference, but this different?
Where can I find Army Dependent definition regs?

After many hours of online searches, they only thing I could come up with was AR 680-300 which says as long as he is a full-time student at an approved school. It is, its one of the UNC branches. The reg also says it doesn't apply to Guardsmen "when not on active duty". Thats cool, I didn't expect the extra pay during drill weekends, just while I'm with OEF.
After confronting this clerk a second time, (via phone) she said AR 680-300 doesn't apply and hung up!
They must have caller ID because now when I call to ask to speak with her supervisor, someone picks up the phone and hangs it right back up.

You're being hosed. Contact the nearest IG office and let them know you're situation. The regulation DOES apply. It sounds like the Admin clerk a) doens't know her job, b) doesn't want to do her job, and c) doesn't want to get in trouble. Since you can't reach her supervisor, I would say that it's time to take a road trip to the unit and explain things in person. Take the reg with you (sections highlighted, naturally), and talk to the 1SG.

I am not sure about that. I know that he can receive dependent privelages longer if he is in college at least half time than he could if he was out of school, but he does age out of it at some point (although I thought it was closer to 23). Of course, my knowledge is for active duty...reserve or gaurd may be different. I would schedule an appointment in your nearest finance office to get the answers you need. I know some things vary by state and that if you are being activated, you should qualify for the same benes as active duty.

You need to tell her to show you the particular reg she is talking about. I have found that more often than not, I'll know more about what the regs are than the person in that position. She's probably mistaken and needs to be corrected on this matter.

I had been told it was 23 or a full-time student.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that you are National Guard now as opposed to Reserves?!

But yes, as long as he is a full time college student, he is covered and can remain on your page 2 until he is 23 or stops being a FT student.

If the MTF by you is doing them and if you require surgery to fix an issue you have (ie reduction of breasts) then yes they will do it, but you can be required to pay for part of it. Generally there is a long waiting list, you have to go through tons of paperwork and it can be denied.
