In the short run, let him go. Take some time off from each other, so he has a chance to sort his feelings out, and to look for someone new. A month or two at least.
After that, you might be friends again.... but if his feelings for you are too intense, then it might be better to go your separate ways.

i think its best that you tell him the truth. its difficult to pretend that you are serious about the relationship when you really aren't. you'll only end up hurting the person you are with. be honest so the person won't expect too much from you and from the relationship.
