The 462 is one of the old MEL engines from the 50's (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln). They use the old FMX style Cruise-o-matic transmission. An engine swap will require you to fabricate motor mounts, change to a C-6 trans (and mounts), custom exhaust, etc. This is a big ticket swap...do-able but not for the faint of heart unless you pay big $$$ to have it done or you can do all the work yourself.
Keep the 462..it's a torque monster and a pretty good engine.

2 thoroughly distinctive engines, you may wish distinctive engine mounts and trans mounts. i could verify with a Lincoln aspects living house to verify if there's a conversion kit like there is for the 60 to sixty 4 Galaxies. The 460 is a brilliant motor with adequate HP to haul that massive previous boat around, the 429 & 460 have been customary kit interior the sixty 9 on up Lincolns.

Putting a 460 in a '66 requires a lot of modification, there has been much discussion about this here http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb/

one of the many problems with this kind of swap is the lack of room for accessories such as power steering pump [was integral with timing cover] perhaps a magnasteer column from a late cadillac could be adapted
a slammed 4 door convertabile w/suicide rear doors would be "da bomb" good luck i hope your money holds out
