No, I'm not generalizing all of you.

I've just noticed that almost every question where the asker is religious and wants to know something about God, or anything like that, there's always those answers that say "There is no god"

Why do people do this? What gives you the right to put something that inane up?

I've heard some people say "The question is based on the belief that there is a god, this is of course false"

I get the impression most Atheists want to "school" believers and bring us out of our delusion.

But If you don't like us pushing our beliefs on you, why do you answer questions like this?

Thank you The Dog, it's nice to know someone else is annoyed by it.

Paul S: Do you hear yourself? You're basically saying that whatever the question is asking, it's ok to answer it with something blatantly ignorant of the question itself with something you think is right, just because you can.

That sounds like a childs way of having an argument.

"No!"

"Why?"

"Because!"

"Because why?"

"Because!"

I am an atheist and I agree.

I find it annoying how many answers from atheists simply just proclaim that there is no God and ignore the rest of the question. Maybe in most cases lacking a belief in God negates the rest of the question, but then why answer it at all.

People always feel the need to put there views in whether or not they are relevant.

The Christian equivalent to this is when someone just puts down a bible verse and says nothing of their own in response to the question. Equally annoying.

Here's a video in response to the atheist blashpemy challenge from a few months back: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FznbwmCmTOQ

He agrees that there has been some major problems with the Church recently, and more than a few people have been hurt by this. Of course, most religious are good honest people, just like most atheists are, but I would bet good money that the angry atheists have been screwed over by a practioners doing things in the name of religion (or at least that's how they feel).

However, atheists should obstain from all "god isn't real" arguements in purely religious discussions (bringing religion into polotics and government may be another matter). Those who don't respect that, are just being asses to people who are more than likely innocent of any wrong doing. Some of them though still feel the need to vent that pent up rage whenever they see a religious talk.

And then there are the Trolls who do anything for the lulz. In which case, the response has nothing to do with believe (religious or nonreligious), they are just saying whatever it takes to get a reaction- and that would be denying god in your case.

It's not just this, it's everyone who posts an answer that contains their opinions that aren't even relevant to the question at hand. This includes the example you've given, people who say "I don't know" or such, but the most annoying I find is the religious nuts who post full essays copied and pasted from some propaganda website that usually has no credulance or even relevance to the question.

So yeah, you're not alone there.

I am not like that...but that's because I'm not an Atheist...(or any other label you care to inaccurately pin on me...)

I am an "agnostic," which means I simply believe that...

I don't know whether or not there is a God...(standing tippy toe on the good-neighbor fence between belief and disbelief...)

But if one day, I sprout wings, and a flock of swirling, nebulously transparent, vaporously intangible-yet-visible angelic-like, human-size cosmic butterflies suddenly flock around me, and we suddenly and joyfully soar up into the upper atmosphere together, then...

I'll probably think they're Extraterrestrials...(but be much more inclined to believe in God after that...)

(The frustration Atheists feel is the same frustration you would feel if someone above the age of 7 SERIOUSLY asked a SERIOUS question about Santa Clause...you would want to point out to that "too-old-to-believe-in-Santa Clause" person that there is no Santa Clause...get it?!?)

"Why do people do this? What gives you the right to put something that inane up?"

It's not inane - in fact, it's the correct answer. This is Yahoo!Answers. The point is for some people to ask questions and others to answer them. Doing so is not being a "troll": it's being a participant.

What's wrong with you? Why can't you participate like an adult?

"Paul S: Do you hear yourself? You're basically saying that whatever the question is asking, it's ok to answer it with something blatantly ignorant of the question itself with something you think is right, just because you can."

No I'm not. That's a lie, troll.

Doesn't the fact that you have to lie so much to defend your beliefs tell you something about the quality of those beliefs? It should, kid.

I'd answer in a similar fashion if someone wanted to know something about Krishna or Mithra or Zeus. "Sorry, but that's nonexistent, and any answer given to the contrary will be based on speculation about nothing".

It's true. Should I not say it if people don't like it? Is it considered "trolling" just because it challenged the premise, thereby rendering the question moot? Am I a "troll" because I refuse to respond within their faulty frame of reference?

If we're not supposed to post the correct answer because it might offend the frail religious sensibilities of the asker, the truth would rarely (if ever) see the light of day.

I agree. I get upset when I see anyone answer a sincere question by slamming the person's religious beliefs. I do not believe in God. However, I can not prove that God does not exist. Therefore, if belief in God is what someone chooses as his path, who am I to deny him? Therefore, I have never answered a question with God does not exist- because to that person, He does.

When we see oppression, dogma, irresponsibility and irrationalism, I think we have a right to interfere with it with integrity, honesty, truthfulness and responsibility. And a deserved dose of disrespect.

I may respect you as a believer, but your beliefs themselves certainly don't automatically deserve that respect.

You dont like what they do BUT you DO what they do.

Look at your Question's HEADING .( the line below the heading does not look obvious, it's only a "btw")

Look at what you are saying too.
