Just stop. I drink like a fish and have been a binge drinker for 27 years but when it's time to let up, I just quit 'til I'm ready to go again. I'm luckier than most because I don't have an addictive personality. Don't smoke, don't do drugs. You may have to go to AA if you're not a D&P (drunk and proud) alcoholic like me. We will never seek help because in our minds there is nothing wrong with us. It's everybody else that is the problem (in our minds). By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!

You dont have to stop altogether, you just need control. I once went out with my friends and decided that i would drink just soft drinks as an experiment to see if i could enjoy myself just as much as when i drink alcohol. I found that i did enjoy myself but i was on a different level as my friends who were drinking. I was embarrassed at some of the things they said and did and thought to myself 'Oh my god is that how i act'. From then on i learned how to control how much i was drinking, i had a glass of orange or coke in between drinks and knew when i'd had enough. I felt so much better, give it a go, you can do it. Good luck.x

I was exactly like you binging on weekends and getting into trouble. I tried to stop by myself and couldn't I always said oh I'll just have one but couldn't stop myself once I started. I went to an AA meeting and have been sober now for nearly 5 years, it's been the best thing I have ever done. x

Hey maybe when you drink you could mix with lemonade so your not drinking as much or just stop drinking or perhaps find summit alternative to do at the weekend then drink like going to the cinema or summit then you can just pig out on popcorn instead :)

Try going to an AA meeting first and finding someone to talk to about your problem. You'll realize that you aren't alone and will get support to stop drinking. Second, you need some new friends! The ones that drink too much, party too hard, and don't take care of themselves will only get you in trouble. Third, educate yourself about alcoholism and how it effects different people. Learn about co-dependency and enabling behaviors. Learn about the pitfalls of addiction and the many faces it takes. Quit smoking.....

You could try NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL.

I'm sorry, it may just be me, but I don't think it's that difficult a concept to understand.

However, if you mean you CAN'T stop drinking then you should ignore what anyone says and get some professional help.

Why would you want to stop drinking? Most of history's prolific scientists and inventors have been total piss-heads. In recent studies it has been found that a brain cell is created for every unit of alcohol consumed. Einstein was as thick as a whale omelet and failed all of his exams at school until he reached 18 years of age, and started to drink like a brewery rat. It also makes you more attractive to women and it certainly makes them more attractive to you. You're arguments make more sense and you become more alert.

I drink on weekends too. Limit yourself to just 3 beers max! and maybe 2 or 3 tequilas... lol.
It's a mind thing, tell yourself you wont and stick to it. Water and lime is refreshing you know, and you don't HAVE to drink to enjoy yourself.... by the way.

Cheers!
