This site has a number you can call. If you read what it says its for teens and for parents who have troubled teens to get help from.

Is he being violent to you? If so, there is not much you can do to help him, better to let a professional therapist talk to him. If he is being violent outside of the home, this of course can lead to some pretty painfull circumstances so if he will talk to you, try to find out why he is so angry, and is he maybe displacing his anger from some other unresolvable event? The other question I have is, is this a new thing? If so, then he is reacting to something, and if he has always been this way, then at 17, you have a real job on your hands, and once again, I would suggest professional help. I am sorry if the previous sounds empty, but there is hope, and at 17 that urge has to come from within....Good Luck!!!

The only way to get him help, so that he does not harm himself or others, may be to have him undergo a psychiatric evaluation; it sounds like he needs much more help than you can give him yourself.

His actions are likely a symptom of something traumatizing which he has endured; something which even he may not yet be able to recognize. Being patient and persistant is all you can really do to help him direclty....

Continue to let him know you love him, everyday; even if you do not accept his behavior.
