Get the clump of hair that you want to cut.
Comb it straight in front of your face.
While the hair is in front of your face cut across at a smooth angle.
Comb your hair back to the side that you want it on.

it SHOULD be angled. If not then just trip small parts at a time.
it's what i did and my bangs look great!

first part your bang at an angle where you want it. hold your bangs and start from the top and slide your scissor down cutting down. keep doing it untill you get that perfect side swept bang. i did that for my sis and it worked

when i went to the salon, what they did was...got my bangs and held it to the left, and cut it straight across. (i part mine so my bangs go down the right.) depending on how much of an angle you wanted would depend on how far to the left you hold your bangs when you're cutting them.

you just trim at an angle starting at your highest point, for me it was just about my eyebrow and lowest/longest was my nose
