Unfortunately the really important issues of the day like infrastructure repair ,deficit spending , the fact that the very survival of the American middle class is hanging on their ability to keep and maintain a good credit score and the negative results of the big lie that says that lower taxes are always good ,gets overshadowed by the overblown and unimportant hot button issues like abortion and gay marriage.

Someone's beliefs may be meaningless to you but at least try to respect them. You can say what's on your mind and I'm not going to stop you but what you said can really hurt someone's feelings.

And to answer your question most people are too busy with the fun and entertaining things instead of paying attention to what's really important.

Like the huge, multi-million Cardinal Staduim here in AZ? They could have taken that money and done something better with it, but they're too busy with their fun to notice people dying because of shoddy bridges.

Not to mention the money that was wasted on sports stadiums that could have gone towards proper maintenance of infrastructure (or even replacement of bridges that lack redundancy in their structure).
