I'd get two male kittens and plan on getting them neutered by the time they're 6 months old so they don't develop any nasty habits. The kittens will have to work out who is dominant, so they will fight until they do. If you interrupt the process, they'll keep doing it until they get their result. They won't kill each other anyway. I think having 2 at a time keeps them from getting lonely. There's nothing cuter than two kittens playing.
In my experience a neutered male makes the best pet. Two guys will get along better than one of each and they don't have to be littermates. As long as you get them at the same time and they are 2 to 3 months old and weaned, the problems should be minimal. However I'd confine them to a small room like a bathroom for a few days when you first get them so they won't be as scared and can't get under the bed.

It doesn't matter what sex you get. The cats will either get along or they won't. If you are getting 2 kittens at the same time it won't really matter, they'll get along even if they are from different litters, they might be a little apprehensive at first, being in a new home with new people. But as kittens, will get over it quick and go right into playing. If you do decide on a male and female just be sure to get them fixed so you don't soon have lots and lots of kittens. :)

1. Why don't you get 2 brothers? That way they will already be friends.
2. Even if they are from different litters, they will get along if they are kittens. It's better to get 2 rather than 1 actually, they will havea play mate and grow up more "normally". They will not be so dependent on you.
3. Either get 2 boys or a boy and a girl. Girls are more territorial between them, it;s better not to get 2 girls, although there will not be a real problem since they are still kittens.
4. Make sure to spay/neuter them when they get 6 months old.

I had a male kitten and when he was 1yr my friend had to give up her 8yr old male cat. I thought it would be a nightmare getting them to get along and it was hard work at first but so long as you introduce them to each other while you are there and never leave them in the same room together if you are not there then eventually they will get used to each other and establish their 'rank and place'. They will then be fine. Just keep a careful eye on them at first. Should be easier with 2 kittens.

all your choice. If you want to get different sexes then do, but you may have loads of kittens running around after a while. Only you can find out if two kittens from different litters will get along

sometimes different kittens get along and sometimes they don't - it is probably a safer bet to get them from the same litter.
As for the sexes - do you want to breed or are they just family pets
have you considered looking in a rescue centre as they often have both cats and kittens that are already soul mates
good luck with your future cat or cats

we have two kittens from different litters, and they love each other, our vet advised us to get one of each sex as they tend to get on better, we got the male first then waited a few months until he was old enough to have the chop! then we introduced a female kitten a few months later, at first it seemed that the male kitten hated her and they were not going to take, but after a week or two they were inseparable! now he cleans her and they curl up together. i would def recommend getting different sex kittens, although make sure you get the male done as you don't want your own litter on your hands!!! if you do go for the same sex go for girls as they are much more placid and boys are much more dominant!!
good luck!!!!!!

as long as you get them 'done ' it doesnt really matter what sex you get them . as when they are kittens they will get to know each other and will grow up together . how ever if you get a adult cat you have to get the opposite sex .
have you not thought about getting an adult rescue cat . there just as nice .... and you can get a pair aswelll ...
