The fact that no one takes you seriously?

When travelling people make jokes about shrimp on the barbie, croc hunters or corked hats

Personaly I love not being taken seriously.
There are much better sledges you can offer an Australian than 'throw another shrimp on the barbie.'

Worst thing about being Australian is being so far from the rest of the world. 20hr plane flights suck and 'almost' stop us from making regular trips around the world to infest dodgy backpackers and create chaos in drinking establishments.

I also don't like the way a lot of my fellow Australians take for granted what we have here.

Breezer, our bars ARE open to 4am some later than that. Not sure how your friend can be full of crap.

The only thing I dislike about living in Australia is that it is so expensive for us to travel outside of the country - and inside for that matter

Seemingly everytime you meet a tourist, being asked to say 'throw another shrimp on the barbie', or something equally banal.

I think it would have to be listening to some poor soul, who's not an Aussie, trying to say G'day like an Aussie.

They never seem to get it right and the more you tell them the more they try. It's seems to be a very difficult word for foreigners to say, even if English is their first language.

Are we not being taken seriously??
Well, stone the bleeding crows, I'm absolutely shattered to hear that fact.

Never noticed that we are not taken seriously.

Worst thing about being Australian is that we are the subject of jealousy by people who want to become like us or to come here to live.

EDIT: Oh my goodness!!!! The Chair Wizard III honours me with his presence in Travel section. I am so privileged!

LMAO@cat "out to get us attitude" bahahaa....I think you may have us confused with a country about as large as ours but believe they're a lot bigger and more important....
Perhaps people don't take us seriously...we're cool with that we have nothing to prove!
We are more of a sit back and watch everyone else talk about their importance...whatever*grin*

I'm not Australian, but we have a friend and I don't take him seriously cause he's so full of crap it's not funny. He talks about bars opening at 4am for people who party all night long, how great he is in comparison to the rest us, and nothing we do can compare to what he has already done. I doubt that everyone is that way, but he sure talks like everyone there is just like him.

Having to apologise for our nasty little Prime Minister - but we'll correct that soon and then we will be perfect.
