Yes, there are quite a few (some dozens or hundreds of thousands - there are no real statistics) immigrants from the former USSR who have come to improve their living situation. I assume most of them have some distant relative who was Jewish (many times it is a great grandparent), i'm not so sure how the others get here, but they do. There are many foreign laborers from Romania, China, the Philippines, central Africa, Thailand, Nepal and other countries, it is not uncommon for these people to receive citizenship, although this would involve a long bureaucratic proses with no real promise that the process will actually end successfully. I'm not sure how easy if at all possible it is to become a citizen if you are completely non-Jewish. The easiest way would be to marry an Israeli citizen I guess. About twnety percent of the Israeli population is non-Jewish. I don't know where you are from and what your profession is. Everything is relative, I guess it is better than Romania, Thailand, or the Philippines, but economically, i'd say that it is expensive and salaries are not nearly as high as they are in the US.

Despite what a lot of ppl are saying i dont think they CAN get along. I think the jews hate the muslims more than the muslims hate the jews. The situation is much bigger than most of us perceive. Its been going on for years, and I dont think thats about to change. Things are only getting worse. But if it helps, in my everyday life, I treat jews like any other people. Maybe if everyone starts with themslef, we can make a gradual difference, but addressing us as a whole will only light the fire again. This talk should actually be addressed to the ones living in palestine/israel. Thanks for ur efforts though.

What a pretty sit that is Muslim and Jews are finally having a peaceful conversation.
I would like to see more of this please; it may change things for the patter.
Muslim and Jews eat the same and look the same and think the same but the aim is not the same.

So if I say I look at Jews as Brothers, I'm OK, but if I disagree with Zionism, I'm a monster? To post here I have to admit that Israel is a country and Palestine is not? Alhamdulillah, Yahoo is in charge, not the participants of this board. Out of all these answers, at least Master Jedi and Witty Weasel were honest. Ignorant, but honest.

We are similar, we are brothers, Judaism and Islam have much more in common than any other two entirely separate religions.
The Golden Age of the Jews in Spain was under Muslim rule not Christian rule.

As I see it,we are cousins. The worst fights are always between family. When I lived in Israel,I worked in East Jerusalem,Bethlehem,Jericho...every where people wanted to see a snake and fire dancer.I would love nothing more than to live in peace in Israel and all the middle east. Imagine what we could accomplish together.

I have posted on this board alot - who would mind peaceful contact. Sadly alot of Muslims who post here on the Israel Travel site are not peaceful and are more interested in posting untruths, slanted stories, and other propaganda. These actions are not like the actions of others I have met of the Islamic faith in my daily life generally. I have posted on the Lebanon board already and would welcome friendly conversation here most assuredly.
Good Luck!!!

As a Palestinian refugee I do not hate Jews all what I am saying I have the Right to exist too. Is that an anti-Semitic statement or hate statement?
