Is sugar-free Kool-aid or lemonade OK. What about Propel, or those new Roaring Waters juice bags by Capri sun in addition to 2% milk.

Won't drink regular water. It has to be flavored like Propel or Aqua Fina Splash.

My daughter is two. I still dilute her Juicy Juice with water (1/3 juice, 2/3 water) and she doesn't know. I also give her Crystal Light and milk. She sometimes gets a Capri Sun or chocolate soy milk at grandma's house and she has had a little bit of 7up/Sprite when she's had an upset stomach. I've been trying to give her more water only, so she likes drinking it (just like Mama and Dada). Those little tiny water bottles that you have to pull the little cap up and suck to get the water out are great!!! She thinks she's a big girl and drinks all her water that way. Also, I gave my daughter Gatorade when she was having diarrhea and it helped. Just a very small amount. Good luck!

Juice is ok but not in large amounts and always check the back of the package or the side to see if it is 100 % juice or just 10 % juice . The best juice is JUICY JUICE 100 % juice not fillers and sweets . Water is the best thing to give my kids love water .not flavored water has sugars in it 2 % milk is great . The thing about sugar free is that it is not really free of sugars . They are in there but in different names . Then there is the food coloring dyes whatever they use to make it all kinds of colors . In small amounts it is ok every now and again . But the best bet is water 100% juice and 2 % milk .

as you know the less sugar you give them, the more they will drink the healthy things. i would stay away from the flavored water because then they wont drink the unflavored. Capri sun is okay but stick to the regular and let them use the straw it is fun for them. lemonade is also okay just not to often it can damage the teeth after a while from all the acid, i would not recommend giving them Kool aid at all, in so many ways it's just not good. juice is always a big hit around here but again not to often. if you really want some good answers ask their doctor. good luck and have fun.

I would stick to milk, water, and limited juice. I don't like to give my kids artificial sweeteners. If you're making your own sugar-free kool-aid, ask the doctor if (s)he thinks Splenda is ok for kids. There is too much bad press out there about Nutra-Sweet and acesulfame potassium. The info on Splenda seems to be pretty positive but many of the drinks that say "Sweetened w/ Splenda" also contain acesulfame. Plus - giving something other than plain water or milk seems to under mind the whole idea of limiting juice. I'm not sure why kool-aid would be seen as better than juice.

She should be drinking water (not propel or anything with added sugar) 100% juice ( I water it down to 50% juice 50% water) and 1%-2% milk. Nothing else has any nutritional value for a growing child. Koolaid is your worst option.

Water, milk, 100% fruit juice mixed 50/50 with water. This is basically all I give my 3 year old son to drink. Sugar-free Kool-aide still probably has artificial sweeteners in it. If it didnt, your kid probably wouldnt drink it anyways. Artificial sweeteners are just as bad as real sugar. Its best to keep your kids away from the capri-sun's and other sugary juices for as long as possible. Your child wont know what they are missing until they try it, put it off for as long as possible.

There's still calories in sugar free drinks and the artificial sweetners aren't really good for kids either. My kids get one serving of juice, two of milk and the rest plain water. If that's all she has to drink, she will drink it when she really gets thirsty. I've had my nieces and nephews over who's parents said they don't like water, they'll only drink milk or only drink juice. I give them one serving and when they ask for more I tell them they can have water. They always throw a fit, but I don't give in. I just put a glass of water where they can reach it and tell them it's there when they get thirsty. They always drink it eventually. Good luck.

1/2 fresh fruit juice and 1/2 water because the fruit juice will count to on e of the 5 a day but it can be to strong by its self. I would not give any fizzy drink to a child because of the sager in it and the capri sun has a lot of sager in it as well.

I think any of those are okay. My suggestion is to mix half water with half juice (100% fruit juice, not the10% like Hi-C). This way he's still getting plenty of water but it's a little flavored.

And, at 2 years old he should be getting whole milk not 2%.

My kids all at 2 years old loved apple juice. Or fruit cordials. Yes, they love all the soda's even light ones - but we keep them only for special dinners or when we go out - they are just too addictive and really not that good - full of chemicals. Anything that's pretty much all fruit / natural is good. I also get the Toddler Formula Vanilla drink which has nutrients in it if my child doesn't have a good "eating day" and that is nice for them made up like a milkshake (S26 make one as do Nestle).
