My neighbor's teenage son taunts my dog, and of course my dog ends up barking incessantly. The neighbor comes out and hoses my dog with water and my dog runs away. This has happened a couple of times already, and now my dog is afraid of water. We are not on speaking terms with this particular neighbor, so it's very difficult to find a solution to this. Anybody have any ideas? They have been abusive to the point where they have kicked the fence when my dog barks at them, I don't know how to prevent my dog from barking at people who mistreat it either...

Keep your video camera close by and when they taunt the dog, record it from a window where you can't be seen,or hide the camera outside and use the remote to get footage of them tormenting your dog. Also, you might call the local ASPCA or Humane Society and ask them to have a talk with your neighbors ~ after you show them the footage of your dog being tormented.

Call the police. That is actually against the law to be doing that. I would also recommend if you can afford it to put up a wood fence so that your neighbor cannot get to the dog. Besides that there is not a whole lot more you can do unless you want to move. Oh and actually there are laws about dogs barking, they are only inforced when dogs are barking for long periods of time, or after 10pm or before 7am, in most Cities. When you are not home and at night keep your dog indoors and you will not have anything to worry about. If you are also breaking the law by keeping a barking dog outdoors all night they will have something to counter with and you could lose your dog. But I doubt this is the case here.

Find what motivates your dog. Some dogs do anything for food. Some dogs do anything for Toys. Some do anything for a good petting. Some do anything for only one type of food, like cheese, or hotdog. Some only have interest in training for 5 minutes at a time, and others can go for an hour. Figure out what your dog is willing to work for, and then work with her in sessions that are no longer than she can tolerate. How to train your dog properly https://tr.im/q7CMV

Sign up for a dog obedience training class. It will not train your dog. It will give you training on how you can train your dog. Most people understand the idea of training, but there is a right and a wrong way to do it, and there is good and bad technique. Timing and consistency is very important, and it helps to have feedback of someone watching you who can help you improve your technique to get more efficient results with your dog.

However, she may be somewhat anxious around other dogs, sort of like the shy kid on the playground. She will benefit from continuing what you are doing as far as asking her to sit before entering, but there are more things along those lines that will help her to calmly go in and out of the dog park. She may also benefit from going in short bursts, or only when fewer dogs are present, or avoiding times when other dogs that make her nervous are present. Maybe she just plays loud - my brother's dog is this way - or maybe she is a dogpark bully - sorry it is possible. But more likely she is just a little anxious around new dogs and she wants to play but just doesn't quite know how to do that and still feel comfortable. Don't be surprised if your dog does not actually like the dog park, and maybe she would get more enjoyment and less stress out of simply going for a good walk somewhere else.

A wagging tail does not mean that your dog is happy or even comfortable with the situation. It means your dog is emotionally aroused. This could be a happy arousal, or it could be a nervous arousal, or it could be an aggressive arousal. Go youtube it, there are plenty of videos of 'vicious' dogs who are throwing a very aggressive fit of barking and snarling while their tail is wagging vigorously. Even police dogs who are not let off the leash to chase down a suspect can be lunging and barking and snarling, and their tails are still going.

well your dog is doing the right thing-will u allow someone to came and pour water on u?i guess not.of course he will bark and its normal -your neighbor is an ass and the dog doesn't like him.have a nice talk with him and tell him that if he doesn't stop u will call the animal protection on him-that is abuse.making your dog not being afraid of water it will take some time,u have to do it in small steps-like if u have a pool in the backyard try to take him with u IN the water-don't force him tho-or try to give him his favorite treat to make him go in the water-if not use the bath tab-give him treats and stay with him there.pet him and try to put some water on him with a sponge or something-try not to scared him,and believe me it works.

Wow. this is going to be a hard one.. If these people have the audacity to spray your dog with a hose and kick your fence... I wouldn't trust them to go that 1 step further .... The one where your dog pays the price with his life...

Honestly.. You know what I think I would do.. But I am not recommending this as a good idea.. But I think I would... Hide behind my fence.. get my dog barking.. In my hand I have my hose.. it's turned on and my hand is on the trigger.. When that bugger from next door jumps up to spray my dog.. I would jump up and spray him with the hose.. And yell NO.. Bad boy !

Supervise your dog when its outside. Put up a privacy fence between you and this neighbor.

LOL stand out there with a hose and squirt the kid when he kicks at your fence!

THIS sounds like an "accident WAITING to happen"- unless you DO something about it- SOON. See if you can get one of those dog collars- that emits a slight shock- whenever he starts barking. He has to be "conditioned" NOT to bark all the time- or sooner or later the police are going to be at your door on a complaint that your dog is disturbing the peace. Since you'll never be able to "train" your neighbor (unfortunately)- you're going to have to lower the volume on your dog. :(

Your dog barking is not against the law, but kicking your fence is. Call the cops! If your dog is barking behind a fence then absolutely no law is broken BUT they have no right to hose down your dog nor do they have the right to kick your property or taunt your dog.
I'd call the cops and file a report, but that's just me.

Every time your neighbor sprays water at your dog spray them with water. If this doesn't work then just shot the neighbor.
