Win or lose, it needs to end soon. I think that we should withdraw, leaving behind a clear message that if they don't play nice, we'll come back. I think most of the problems there are caused by people who don't want the US occupying their country. They're not going to attack us on our turf if we're not on theirs. That's the difference between terrorists and insurgents.

That, or split Iraq into 3 countries, one for the Shi'ite, one for the Sunni, one for the Kurds. I realize that running from the problem isn't a win, but true idiocy is not realizing when giving up is the better option.

Well, you DID post this in the R&S forum...

Anyway, the best outcome would be for the violence to stop and for a stable government to form.

I believe 95% of the population want this.

We shouldn't think in terms of 'winning', but whether the country can get back on its feet

There will only be losers as most of the world predicted.
Saddam was stting on a powder keg which he suppressed with brutality.
The Americans have gone in and poured gas on it then lit it.
It will take generations for the Middle East to recover.

It needs to finish. I don't care if we 'win' or not, it just needs to end. The US is spending more money in this one war than what it would cost to put in the infrastructure, pay doctors, AND fight HIV/AIDS for 20 YEARS!!! They could fund the whole thing. Australia could be doing far more for global stability, and against the 'war on terrorism' and cause better security in Australia by ignoring the middle East and focus more on helping Africa and eliminating Global poverty than the endless futility of this so called 'war on terror'

The best outcome is to get a president who does not make his move based on imaginative master's command and use his own brain for a change.

I know it's difficult to get over the fallen heroes but think of this in war there are never winners... only lost ones
