It would take lots of change to get the sunni and shia to get along. Maybe another 500 or 1000 years. Sunni and Shia have been at it since after Mohammad's death, but since then till like the mid 1200, they were unified under a single dynasty. Later on the Sunnis and Shia had their own countries that became rivals.

When two groups of people cannot live side by side as equals their are only two alternatives.

1. One group can oppress the other till it has no will to fight back.

2. They separate and go their different ways.

Hopefully Iraq will go for #2

No

They have been fighting each other since the death of Muhammed.

They will continue to fight each other until one side has been eradicated.

Actually.... the assorted "arabic" people have been fighting each other since before Moses parted the Red Sea... something on the order of 3,000 years before. (at least)

You won't stop a 6,000 year old war... no matter what you try.

Look up the sectarian violence statistics before and after the Iraq war.
When a country is ripped apart for its oil reserves and for weapons of mass destruction that were never found, its people end up fighting themselves. They do not have the strength to fight an organized coalition and internal strife is the natural consequence.

uh no.

these people are not horribly well-educated, nor do they have a whole lot of respect for each other. they are often raised to hate people who disagree with the small points of their faith, so, no, there is no easy answer for this stuff.
