"tobacco", you say? I can dig it. What you do in you spare time is none of my business. Just don't get caught, mate....

You'll want to use glue. The best thing to use is probably "two part epoxy" which can be found at just about any hardware or auto parts store. Super-glue may also work, (but I've had bad luck using superglue on glass.)

This may be a tricky operation. Ask a salesman for advice if you've never used epoxy before. Heres a few tips:

-You'll want to mix the two components on a scrap piece of cardboard that you can throw away later.

-Use a toothpick to mix the glue and then apply it to the joint.

-Hold the two pieces together with one hand, and then, clean off any excess that gets squeezed out, with *nail polish remover.* Epoxy is difficult to remove once it hardens.

-Epoxy needs to be held together until it cures enough. Wrap the piece securely with masking tape, to hold it while the glue hardens, about 8 -10 hours.

Good luck,

It can be done. - But it takes skill.
The trick is to get both ends heated soft enough to join without melting into beads and then pressing them together very gently with a slight twisting motion to 'blend` the glass without sealing the stem and then applying a SLIGHT tension to keep the tube open as it cools.
You will need to anneal the joint after you do this or it might easily break again.
You will probably need to plug the pipe and have a flexible tube to blow through on the stem to keep it open.
Get some flint glass tube and practice first.
You won't succeed the first time.
Careful - Don't get burned.
Remember - hot glass looks the same as cold glass.

If you mean the stem of the pipe has broken, it would simply be a case of melting the two ends together, as in welding steel, however, this would cause the hole to be blocked. If you mean the bowl has broken, try Araldite, although,as you say, it may not stand the heat. Your best bet is probably one of those people who make small glass animals.

It is possible to 'weld' glass together but the heat required wold distort the pipe so it would be crap.
