Wouldn't it make more sense if he REALLY cares about free will, not to want people to know about him until after we die- so that we make decisions for the right reasons and not just because we're afraid of going to hell?
If someone lives their life helping others because its the right thing to do, isn't that better than helping others because they have some selfish ulterior motive (they expect to be rewarded in heaven)?

There is a scary logic to your statement. It actually makes a lot more sense on the surface.

But the fear of hell doesn't really come into consideration for those who serve him, and is completely discounted by those who choose not to (or who do not believe in him at all). Likewise, mature Christians don't view heaven as a reward, at least by what I think of as a reward. A reward is something that is earned, and Christian salvation is actually really easy once you believe in it. It is more of a "Initiation gift," though that analogy does it a terrible injustice.

And part of the test of our 'free will' is to accept him, without his direct and undeniable interference in our life. We choose to have faith. It is not ultimately about our actions with him.

But believe me, I will be thinking about your question for quite a while.

Let me change something about your question to see if it still makes sense. I'm going to change 'God' to 'Government'. Now lets go with it.
Why would it be important to (the government) for us to accept it during our time in this country? Wouldn't it make more sense if it REALLY cares about free will (democracy), not to want people to know about it until after we leave - so that we make decisions for the 'right' reasons and not just because we're afraid of going to prison?
If someone lives their life helping others because its the 'right' thing to do, isn't that better than helping others because they have some selfish ulterior motive (they expect to be rewarded (in some way))?
We have democracy in this country but are still required to live by the laws. this could be seen as being contrary to democracy as we should be free to decide (democratically) what we want to do. this democratic process extends all the way down to individual people and has influences in different areas, regions, states and countries depending on the population diversity in that area (this is why we have counsel by-laws, state law, federal law and organizational policies ect). saying that we can do the 'right' thing based on it being the 'right' thing is vastly problematic as the 'right' thing to do changes depending on the population diversity in the democratic region you live in (think of whether someone gets out of a chair for a pregnant or elderly person on the train and you will see an example of whether something is 'right' in a particular demographic region). Laws are put in place to guide us in what is right and what is not. If we do something against the government then the government needs to pardon us or punish us based on these said laws. God simply uses the same process. If I claimed in Australia that I wasn't Australian then I would not expect the same benefits as an Australian citizen, this would include the possibility that I would not be aloud to stay in Australia. Again, God uses these same principles, if we accept the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf then we claim to be a person of God, this means that we are then citizens of God, we can't be deported but we can still be rewarded or punished by the laws God provides. If God didn't place these laws in our possession, then how could He REALLY care about us? If He refused to guide us in the way the government guides us then wouldn't that show that God was rather apathetic? The best bit is that while the government can punish us because we did something bad accidentally, God looks at our heart and so if we help others because of some 'ulterior motive' then we will be caught out and will not be rewarded for these selfish acts.

It proves Satan a liar. In the garden of Eden when Satan deceived Eve he was really bringing up an issue that, now, because of Eve's disobedience, needs to be settled. The issue is: Who has the right to rule? God or Satan. Letting time go by proves that Satan's way of ruling does not work, but it will also show who love God for who he is: Our Creator! He's deserving of all praise. We live because of him, therefore, we should want to obey him in everything. It's to our benefit.

I'm our Community Outreach coordinator for our church. I am also our Hospitality servant lead. Which is to say that I am in service with many that delight in serving others for the Lord.

While in service, we're not thinking "oh, have to serve the Lord to get to heaven......" We're meeting and greeting and carrying on great conversations with other brothers and sisters of faith. We're ushering in newbies and linking arms with community. The reward is the Heavenly blessings we receive right here through the joy that we feel while in His perfect obedience. Talk about a high!

You should try it! :) You will NOT be disappointed. katiefish <><

The importance of Jesus coming down to Earth to get killed is not to be underestimated. The ONLY reason why someone might want to change their mind after their life is over is to escape from going to Hell. That's not what Jesus came for.

He came to have faithers (not a typo). Those that trust Him. Especially those who trust Him without seeing Him.

What God didn't want are doubters. Those that do not trust Him.

If it doesn't make any difference to you, then you aren't the one who God asked or drew to Him. If it does make a difference to you, then you are being drawn to Him,.

That is the big test you can perform on yourself:
Do you WANT to know God? If you do, then He wants you because you cannot WANT to know Him without His drawing you to Him.

John 6:44
"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day."

Please leave the child alone. She doesn't deserve such language.

Anywho...God said:

"For behold, this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

His whole purpose in existing is to help us be perfect and happy forever.

If you don't understand this, you either don't have your own children or you aren't the best mother, with all due respect.

He judges us based on our desires - who we really are. He knows who we are better than we do. If a person is doing something for the wrong reasons, He knows.

That answer was kind of choppy but I hope it made sense! :o)

exactly, i think that living a good life, is FARRR more important than finding the "right" religion.

yeah you christians caught us, out of the thousands of different religions that the earth has seen, yours is the one that is ultimately right. and everyone else was wrong, and because of that they are all going to hell.

I dont think that God would send billions of souls to hell for getting the wrong religion. and if your god does that, i want no part with him.

Blessed Be,
Demosthenes

You got the wrong idea. Live for God out of desire, not expection or fear. Doing the right thing is a choice, a free will.

Well he knows in our heads whether we are REALLY living for him or that we are just afraid of going to Hell and this is the test. Thats the whole point of life... what would life be if we didn't have to believe in God?
