First off ~ you have to be very careful ordering medications from petsmeds and or a 3rd party company? I thought at first it would be more convenient and cost efficient. After talking w/my vet, and several manufactures I found that not all orders come from manufactures or even within the United States. Some companies will not warranty their medication unless you actually purchase it from your vet and or straight from the manufacture itself.
After talking in length w/my vet ~ I found that most vets price match so I can go on line, locate the item I am looking for along w/the price ~ take it to my vet who will sell me the product at that cost which is usually cheaper. Plus if there is any problems, I am not only backed by my vet but by the manufacture themselves. Also if you order from Pedmeds, you have to be up to date on your dogs heartgard testing, and you will need a prescription from your family vet before you can order.
I use Frontline Plus and Heartgard Plus!!!

Buying from them isn't recommended. The products they sell do not come from the manufacturer of the product since they will only sell to licensed vets. Who knows where that product is coming from and what is really in it. If your dog were to have a reaction to the product, the manufacturer would in no way help you out, because it is technically not their product.
I have heard of reactions to Iverheart in small dogs, personally I'd stick with Heartgaurd straight from the vet. You'll have to go there for a heartworm test anyway before you could get a prescription for it. So why not just get it while you there. Much safer that way.

has your dog been tested for heartworms? you will have to have a negative test and a vet prescription to get these meds from them. i would not go with a generic form of heartworm preventative. often it's only a few dollars each month for the heartguard plus from your vet and you are protected by knowing those meds have been stored and come directly from the company that manufactures them. sometimes if the meds fail the manufacturer will not back up their guarantee if you are not purchasing them from a vet. heartguard plus not only protects from heartworms, but also roundworms and hookworms. i would go with the heartguard the price difference should be minimal each month. and i personally would feel better using a trusted preventative rather than a cheaper generic brand for heartworm prevention. if in doubt ask your vet and go with their reccomendation. any online pharmacy would worry me, why not just get it from your vet. have you compared prices and is it worth the small difference for taking the chance with your pet's health?

First, I'd get your dog tested for heartworms (should always be done before being put on heartworm medication). Then, get your medication from the vet, not off the internet. The internet is a great thing, but I wouldn't trust it to purchase important medications. Get Heartguard, especially if you've never heard any personal experiences with Iverheart (I've never heard of it, so I wouldn't use it).

be careful when ordering from petmeds. they do not get the meds straight from the manufacturer. they go through a third party so there is no telling where the meds have been and if they are even correct. more and more vets are refusing to do business with them. that aside, you get what you pay for. i would go with the heartguard.
