I am curious. I hear lots of people screaming that they don't want to pay for "welfare" for undocumented. I am wondering this: If you don't want to pay for the undocumented, what about paying for a US citizen that is in a crisis situation and needs help? Or, what about an illegal person that has a baby here who is very ill with a rare disease and can live a semi-full life here, but, would die in Mexico. Is it ok to pay for his medical assistance? I am just trying to figure out under what circumstances you view public assistance (medical assistance, child care assistance, food stamps, WIC) as being ok, and, when it is not.

The undocumented mom has a child that has a RARE illness. If he were not this sick, she could provide for him. His survival is expensive, but, he is fully mentally capable. She is only on MA because of how expensive his bills are, and, he would die without the medical care.

Sorry, one last thing: there are "unforeseen" circumstances. there are cases of the death of spouse (who is the only provider for family), and, that can put a family into a situation where they may need the assistance.

I think that you can judge a society by how old people and children and the unfortunate are taken care of in it. I read something like this I didn't think of it all by myself but I agree with it.
I don't think that it is a bad thing to help people who are in trouble. And they should not be put down for it. If you want to you can think of govt public asistance the way it should be done as a kind of insurance. What's wrong with some of our taxes going to that? Hopefully you will never need it but it is good if it was there for you isn't it? It's not like it would cost too much either.
Yes there are people who abuse it. We all know that. But they are low and disgusting and there are not that many of them. And they will eventually be caught.
And why does anyone think is it really better to spend tax money on the Forever War and Bush's other BS than to help people when they need it?
Edit: "Hey kid you deserve to die because your mother is a Mexican illegal" is sad and sick. If you are Proud of a system that is doing that than you are evil and sick.
p.s. Hey guys Hello! The baby IS a US Citizen!

The Only Part Of Your Question That Makes ANY SENSE Is The Phrase "Undocumented workers have no rights in this country" This Is The Only Part I Will Address ILLEGAL ALIENS Are Not Afforded Protections Under The US Constitution OR The Bill Of Rights The Rights Of Free Speech And Assembly To Protest Are Rights Reserved For CITIZENS Of The USA millions of undocumented workers have been (ILLEGALLY) taking advantage of the first amendment. Just Imagine If ILLEGAL ALIENS Were Granted Constitutional Rights 2nd Amendment Anyone ?? Remember That One ?? The right of the people to keep and bear arms ?? Thats What I Meant By OUT OF CONTEXT You CANNOT Pick And Choose PARTS Of The Constitution

If the assistance is for a legal citizen it should be there for them when in need. If for an illegal criminal alien, no, let them go back to their own country for assistance. Taxpayers pockets are only so deep. We need to take care of our own.
Per your example: The undocumented child with the rare illness should seek treatment in his own country at his own parents and country's expense.
Bottom line, they are illegal. There are many legal citizens that are not getting the care they need because they cannot afford it. Legal is the key.

The current system benefits only the very poor. I think people resent having to pay for benefits for needy foreigners, knowing that if they ever need assistance with their own medical bills, they cannot get it. As the costs of health insurance become too high for even upper middle class professionals to afford, Universal Health Care becomes inevitable.
Of course I could be wrong. Maybe this generation of Americans just consists of self-centered, un-charitable boors.

Illegal Aliens and their offspring deserve nothing more than to be medically stabilized and then deported back to their homeland.
No $500K extreme medical procedures, no "FREE" Health care, no "FREE" education, no "FREE" Food stamps....
ALL Social Services must be reserved for Legal Taxpaying US Citizens and Residents.
The US can NOT continue to be the Global Butt wiper.

Of course if it was an American citizen or legal immigrant we should help them to get back on their feet. If they are illegal, we should help in an emergency because I believe all people should be able to see a doctor as a human right. Once they are well, they should leave.
I don't think Americans are heartless people, we just are tired of footing the bill for everyone on the planet.

I think welfare should not apply to anyone. Unless this is a real problem with the child. Lots of people come from other countries to get the medical care they can get for their really sick children. I think the only benefit that people should get under welfare is medical treatment for the really sick who can not afford to be insured. Not a global healthcare system just care for those who really need it.

I view public assistance as just that...assistance to the AMERICAN public. If an individual or family needs TEMPORARY help, they should get it. But, notice I said temporary, meaning that they need to get back to work, get educated, whatever, so they con contribute to society instead of just leach off of it. Illegals only leach off of society, so no benefits for them. Providing health care, schooling, citizenship to their babies is only more motivation for them to come here. If these people, legal or illegal, would actually try and contribute to our society, to perpetuate it, rather than suck it dry, I would have a different opinion...but, they pay next to nothing in taxes, use public services (schools, hospitals, social services, etc.) drive up our insurance rates, drive up our crime rates, etc. and also do not spend their "earned" money in our society, but rather they send it back home via western union/moneygram, etc. If an illegal is in grave medical danger, patch them up and send them home. If they choose not to seek medical attention because of risking deportation afterwards, they must not be in that great of medical risk.

Government aid is meant to help citizens of the United States. Illegal mexicans don't deserve anything.
