Alright, OD has come up a lot in the world, recently. At least it seems that way to me. So im doing research. (I do this randomly with things im not familiar with) And as much as i research, it doesnt say what pills kill people. Like i know, ODing on something for say acne, wouldnt kill you right? Im just wondering. Also, someone in my family once OD'ed but didnt die. And i was wondering like what type of perscription they took. IDK....im just curious on the subject. If anyone has any knowledge on the subject, please let me know!

Any medication, taken in excess, can kill you. Taking more that the recommended or prescribed dose of a medication is considered an over dose, even if the person doesn't seek medical attention or have symptoms. I work in a hospital and one of the most common over doses I have seen, whether intentional or by accident, is ordinary Tylenol. (acetaminophen) An adult is not supposed to take more than 4000 mg in a 24 hour period, and you shouldn't take the maximum dose for an extended period of time with out informing your doctor. Tylenol over the maximum dosage is toxic to your liver and can cause liver failure and death, even if there are no symptoms, and you take too much by accident. A person takes the max. dose in tablets for a fever while sick, plus a cold medicine for cough and congestion, but doesn't realize it also contains acetaminophen as well. That is an over dose. The cold clears up after two days, and the person stops. That has already caused some damage to the liver. Over time, the damage accumulates.
I think that between the media, t.v., and movies, when people say "Over dose" or "OD", we think street drugs, or strong prescription pain killers. I have seen some pretty bad stuff from the most innocent sounding medicines.

The answers are wrong. Not just any pill can kill you if you overdose. I took an entire bottle of anxiety meds once combined with Tylenol and ibuprofen and alcohol and lived. Period.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.
The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

Any medication can kill you if taken in excess. Common household accidental overdoses are in tylenol and iron. I have known people to overdose on just about everything, tylenol, vitamins, benadryl (aka otc sleep meds) soma, ambien, you name it. bottom line is the body isn't made to use that high of a dose, thats why it is an overdose. If your grandmother took too much of her medication for high blood pressure which is obviously to lower blood pressure, her heart could stop all together. See?
