It's all about jurisdiction

Marshall's have federal jurisdiction

Sheriff's are elected by voters within a county, they have county jurisdiction, and the officers who work for them are called Deputy Sheriffs.... or Deputies. They patrol county areas that aren't patrolled by City Police.

A Ranger is a Park ranger... So has jurisdiction in the Park in which he serves... whether it's a State or Federal Park.

Fish and Game Warden's have statewide jurisdiction as well.
