For a treat, my dogs love freeze dried liver. I wouldn't feed any dog a diet of liver if that is what you meant. If your dog got ahold of chicken liver, it shouldn't hurt him or her.
If you went with a raw diet, HEART is a great organ meat and contains taurine which is great for dogs, but again, the proportion of organ meat to raw meaty bone and muscle meat is smaller.

The above is the site I used when my dogs were on a raw diet which they all did great on.
Because of multiple dogs and minimal freezer space, I went back to a kibble that was not on the recent recall list.
If your pup got ahold of a bunch of liver it might make him a bit sick.

Not at all - offal is part of your dogs' natural diet. Liver is very rich though and high in Vitamin A so don't feed more than once a week.

My dog has been fed Raw Meaty Bones, offal and table scraps since we brought her home at nine weeks. She gets liver, heart, kidneys and chicken giblets as about 10-15% of her diet. This link is a good source for information on feeding your pets.

Liver is a very nutrient rich organ. It is great for dogs. But because it is so rich it can cause some diarrhea.

Go ahead and give your pup some raw liver, just in small amounts.

My St Bernard, is the kindest, loving dog! great coat, and white teeth, and small stools.
The reason is because he eats everything raw, veggies, fruit, meat. He is very healthy, and since most of the food is used, the stools are small and not full of fill. (corn, etc) If you think of the wild animals, they always eats the organs 1st as they have the most nutrition. I have never regretted feeding raw food. The sled dog's are fed this diet also. P.S. His fav. treat is a carrot! So, I say feed it to the pup, just add bread, so it's not pure protein, as they are not used to it, and I always add a bunch of raw stuff, not just meat. Cat's do very well on this too! And any size dog!

I would not feed my dogs or myself any kind of liver. Livers are the organ that remove the toxins from the body. It just sounds like a bad idea to eat a toxin strainer. Most Alternative medical professionals don't see liver as healthy at all even though the AMA does. I think the Alternative professionals have a good point.

Now chicken is ok for your dog. Just use another organ from the bird.

It's rich, but it should be okay. Keep an eye on your puppy's stools and behavior, just to be safe, but you should be doing that anyway ;)

It is a good nutritious treat. You can freeze the livers individually and then give one to a large breed dog, or cut into smaller pieces for smaller dogs. Keep it in the freezer until tou want to feed it again. The dogs will eat them frozen or not.

As long as you don't give him too much, it's very rich. You don't want to give him an upset stomach or diarrhea. Just take care. All the best;~)
