I think it does not matter how you pray, as long as you directs your heart to Him.

You can do it anywhere, in any position, but better not in lying down position before going to sleep (coz you tend to fall asleep).

Before you pray, forgive others who had hurt your feelings first (Mark 11:24-26), so Father in heaven will be more happy to listen to your prayer.

This is what others told me to pray:

1) Say thanks for whatever kindness God has done to you throughout the day (or night).

2) Ask for forgiveness, for whatever you've done wrong...or you think had made Him sad.

3) Pray for others: family, friends, for your country, for the deceased...(in purgatory)

4) Pray for yourself: for patience, humility, etc...

5) Thank you and amen.

God will also be very happy if you ask Him what He wants from you....you could usually do this by reading the Bible...so you know what He expects from us....forgive one another...love one another....love Him will our might...etc etc..

I think it was true..your life can be a prayer...just present to the Lord whatever you are doing for the day...especially when you are doing something that you don't like..e.g. helping your mom at home, doing household chores...that can be your sacrifice for the Lord. Even when you are sick....take your pain and present it to the Lord....as a sacrifice...maybe for a friend who is having a problem....

Believe in the power of prayer.....it was truly great as He will always answer it.

I'm Muslim so I pray 5 times a day. Before Salat I do Wudu(ritual purification) and if I did something with my husband I do Ghusl(bath). After I complete Wudu I get out my prayer rug and start speaking in Arabic(all Muslims have to pray in Arabic as that is the language of the Qur'an) and my prayers involve, standing, sitting, bowing, and prostrating. I don't pray on my periods as in Islam women are exempt from praying or fasting on their periods. Fajr(dawn) is 2 units that are done aloud, Zhur(Noon) is 4 units and are done silent, Asr(Afternoon) is 4 units and is dones silent, Maghrib(sunset) is 3 units and the first two are done aloud and the third is done silent, and Isha(evening) is 4 units and the first two units are done aloud and the last two units are done silent.

If by pray you mean speak at 'God' then I only put those energies out there when other lifeforms need help in passing into heavan. Shut eyes do help a lot but are not vital if you can ignore your field of view, it is though important to open up your soul to the wider spiritual dimension. Physical posturing only helps if done so to increase the flow of energy around myself - such as conventional Christian positioning of the hands or Yogic posturing also.

#1 Clear and as a child does.

No fancy adult garbage with words or blah blah blah - nice, straight to the point conversation. (we one sided until you get answer, it's true.)
Honesty also is important. No walls or barriers, as with talking to humans.
Expose all the emotion of each request as they come to you. Explain why you are asking, praying for this or that.

I talk to God like I talk to a friend. I don't use flowery "church" language or anything like that. God will hear and understand my prayers no matter how I say them.

For myself, I pray the rosary, and many other catholic inspired prayers.
But you can pray anyway you want to.
Just dont forget to thank God for all he has given us. Too many people pray just want want and want..
