Yes. I'm sorry, you come from another country looking for freedom, you learn the language. I don't go to France and demand they learn English. You don't come here and tell me to learn your language. Yes we should learn other languages, but for the sake of reaching out and to improve education, not so we can cater to the preferred language of immigrants.

This isn't an R&S question but i do believe so. In the state of all human rules, whoever conquers keeps. And our english settlers conquered this land. They fought for it and won. So the right to maintain an insisted language that everyone can understand would provide better communication and make everything work better overall. I don't even know the dishwasher's name at work, i guess his name is "Yes", because that is what he told me. If I where to move to a different country and would not be allowed unless i knew the language, it would not be an offense to me and i would understand that requirement and its purpose. For america to allow so many languages is making it unstable as it is. Soon enough it will be a requirement for all of us to know spanish, because most college degrees nowadays require a second language, and 80% of collegues choose spanish as it is most fluently spoken next to english.

Not to say learning a different language would harm anyone as long as they knew english to begin with, and as long as anyone that comes to this country can speak it to a degree of a normal conversation. America is whipped by the world

It should be the official language for your government.

What people speak to each other through the day is their business. I think all this talk about language problems is just another ploy by your Government to get you all divided and easy to rule.
So long as you are busy hating at your neighbours then you are too busy to notice how you are getting ripped off by your ruling class.

Why bother?
I learned Assyrian and Arabic before learning English, and I was born here.
This just makes me more cultured and makes it a hell of a lot easier to learn French.

No. We are a nation of immigrants who's ancestors brought a variety of languages to the culture. By speaking many languages we become a smarter, stronger nation that is better equipped to handle the changing world.

Absolutely, it's the current defacto language and the standard. American parents don't just have kids in America adn say hmm I think I'm going to raise my kids speaking Tagalog. And if the imigrants think this is unfair...don't come here.

seems rather pointless. English is the dominant language of the world.

If we as a nation become bilingual with Spanish or trilingual with Chinese, that will only make us stronger.
