Best for getting rid of bruises regardless of origin.

Arnica salve. Believe it or not we pick it up at the Dollar Store here in Texas (it's an import product from Mexico). You can also get it at health food stores. Works like a champ. In addition, consume lots of fresh fruit. Cold compresses also help alternating off and on. I've seen a serious bruise (not from a belt) disappear with all three of these in around 24 hours.

If struck by a belt, go to the police. If the belt was too tight around your waist, tincture of time.

I heard (from my grandma, cut me some slack) that if you soak a cottonball in white vinegar and cover the bruise up overnight with it that it should fade.

haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot.
