Yep! It can really be a problem, especially considering people have unwittingly driven cars, walked onto busy roads and climbed out windows while sleepwalking.
We had a sleepwalker in my platoon during recruit training. Late one night, he picked up his water bottle, put on his sandals, marched into the foyer while calling the time and stood at attention until a Bombardier found him. He managed to pass it off as a one-time incident brought about by stress, though the recruit instructors thought it was pretty amusing anyway.

While I cannot say definitively that sleepwalkers are allowed into the military, I can say that if it is not something that happens on a nightly basis, I wouldn't worry about it. I have never heard of anyone being kicked out of the military in my career thus far.

we had a guy last cycle that got processed out after he developed a sleeping disorder. Maybe from lack of a regular sleep schedule. Sunuvabitch would pass out walking on long patrols and just keep on walking. So yes, it can get you out.
