You want something with a good back beat, so that you can get the peddles moving. That said, some of the music that I listen to does not conform to this, as I like a bit of a ballance when out for a few hours.
At the heavy end of the scale I like Nirvana (Smells like team spirit, Rape Me, The Man Who Sold The World), Guns and Roses (Sweet Child Of Mine), The Cranberries.
More Moderate tastes - Sheryl Crow. Most of her hits can be quite perky, in a rock chick sort of way.
Other than that, Walking on Sunshine, Brown Eyed Girl, Nasty Girl, etc.
Basically, as you say, anything with a good base.

Hopefully you're doing this indoors on a trainer or stationary bike.
Listening to tunes while riding out in public makes you a road hazard. You may or may not hear overtaking traffic. Even if you CAN hear, your brain is using clock cycles processing the music, so you will take longer to respond to potholes, cars turning suddenly in front of you, random squirrels, etc.
If I'm passing you on my bike, I'll announce "On your left". If I see wires dangling under your helmet (I hope you wear a helmet), I'll do it even louder. Still, more than once I've seen people startle, freak and dump their bikes as I went by because they were lost in their own little musical universe.
If you dislike cycling enough that you need to distract yourself, maybe you should find another activity.

Alex hit it with the backbeat. Although before a ride I prefer some Pantera or something equally hard, while I am riding urban I like techno (I don’t listen to music on the trails). Deep/funky/Chicago house it doesn’t matter. The beats will keep your cranks spinning.
And forget about what pinkpanther949 said about safe! If you are on the trails ride hard and remember, if you don’t fall hard at least once a ride you are not riding hard enough! (WEAR THAT HELMET THOUGH!)

you choose for some element with a good shrink back beat, so as which you would be waiting to get the peddles moving. That suggested, fairly some the track that I pay interest to does no longer adjust to this, as i like in basic terms a sprint a ballance whilst out for some hours. on the heavy end of the size i like Nirvana (Smells like team spirit, Rape Me, the guy Who offered the worldwide), weapons and Roses (candy new baby Of Mine), The Cranberries. extra desirable effortless tastes - Sheryl Crow. maximum of her hits could desire to be extremely perky, in a rock chick style of way. distinctive than that, strolling on Sunshine, Brown Eyed woman, Nasty woman, etc. extremely, as you're asserting, something with a good base.
