I'm not sure what the proper name for the chinese hair sticks are but here is a picture of what I'm talking about

I have long hair, and I tried to put my hair in these, but I'm doing something wrong because my hair falls down and they come out. How in the world do you put these things in there and get them to stay? Like how do you insert them? Please someone help! Thanks

there are two ways that I do it.. My hair is super super thin so eventually either of these methods slides loose, but it does take a while.
anyway
the first is that you roll up your hair (if it's thick you have to figure out how it'll work best w/o being too big).. anyway.. Then stab the stick through the whole hair, twist around so that the point doing the stabbing goes back through a second time. (if you first stab right to left, turn the stick so it's facing back where it came from and stab left to right.) it'll be really tight, but it should stay.
the other method is to twirl the hair around the stick, like spaghetti and then stab close to the scalp.. this way doesn't work as well, but it hurts less....
anyway - I only worked out these methods cause I was constantly sticking pens and stuff in my hair.. practice makes perfect..

They arent any special sticks for hair they're actually fancy chopsticks. how do i know? because im chinese. you can put up your hair in practically any thing likea pen or pencil. Here is how i put my hair up in a chopsticks.
1- pull your hair into a ponytail but dont put an elastic on it
2-twist your ponytail
3- then wrap you hair in in to like a bun and hold it in place with your hand
4-then take one chopstick andpoint it down wardinto your hairnext to the bun on the right side. DO NOT insert the stick into the bun
5- twist the stick that is now in your hair to the left so that it is horizontal
6- push the stick in to the side of the bun diagonally so that itll touch you scalp
7- then angle it back outof the bun
8- the tip of the stick which is now sticking out of the bun will be tucked in to the hair on the left sideto keep the bun from falling
9- stick the other stick the same way but starting from the left side.

tehe sorry these are confusing instructions but thats how u do it. best of luck =](theres alot of other ways to do it)

Gather your hair in one hand and one of the sticks in the other hand go to the middle of the length from the back of your head to the bottom oh the hair. Slide your hand to the bottom of you hair. Fold the hair under and twist the stick so your hair twist with it then after twisting it enough stick the stick into your to the hair on the back of your head and then stick the other stick it to keep it stable. It a bit tricky the first time, but its one of the best ways.

oh i use them all the time. you have to wrap your hair in to a messy bun or take the sticks and twist around till it's kinda tight and do an in and out weave to secure them

it's difficult to explain w/o showing you lol

say you have a french twist. you stick one in then out over the twist then down again to secure then do the same at the opposite angle for the other one...

Do a bun and make it tight cuz it will loosen otherwise... don't put it straight through-make it kinda like you are sewing. Kinda hard to explain.
