I don't think it would be advisable to put oil in your dogs ears. This could do more harm than good.

There is a product called "Thornit" which can clear up ear mites practically overnight. It comes in powder form and you just put a pinch inside the dog's ears and gently rub the outside flap to disperse the powder. I've used it regularly on my dogs for years. I get mine from www.groomers-online.com

Just tap "Thornit" into your search engine and you'll be able to read all about it.

Worth a try!

I don't know exactly what "sweet oil" is, but I don't think it would be good to put them in your dogs ears. The oil will only make your dogs ear's more moist (a better habitat for mites) and the mites may even be able to eat the oil if it contains sugar, making them healthier and more able to reproduce. There are lots of great medication that you can get from your vet and maybe even the pet store that is made specifically to get rid of ear mites.

I got an e mail today on household hints and one of them was using Wesson corn oil - think any corn oil / oil would work tho is effective on ear mites. A few drops depending on size of dog with cotton ball and rubbing. Should drown the little suckers! My neighbors Labrador retreivers have ear mites and she when to vet, came over to treat my dogs. 10 drops for my Great Pyrenees, and maybe 4 for my mixed border collie per ear. 3 days in a row should do it.

I am not sure that sweet oil will work. It certainly won't hurt the dog. You might try a lice product or a drop of flea killer. But remember that is off label use.
Are you sure it's mites and not yeast? Alcohol will kill yeast.

Call your vet for medication...it's VERY cheap $5-10, and the most effective method. It shouldn't even require an exam, just stop by and pick it up.
