Frontline Plus has worked for me.
First I give the dog a really, really thorough bath with flea shampoo. You have to leave the lather on for at least 5 minutes before rinsing it off. This kills any fleas that are on the dog.
Then, after the dog is dry, I put the monthly Frontline Plus treatment between the dog's shoulder-blades.
This worked for me because we caught the fleas early. If they have already gotten into the carpet or furniture, you will have to treat it. They sell products for this at the pet store. But you may want to check with your doctor to make sure the flea products are safe to use around the baby.

You had a baby or the dog had a baby? If you had a baby, then get some Advantage or Frontline to put on the dog. This will kill the fleas. If the dog had a puppy, then ask your vet to sell you some Capstar tablets. You give it to the dog,and 30 minutes later, all the fleas on the dog will die,and it won't hurt the puppy. You can give it every day.You can also give the Mom dog a bath with flea shampoo, and make sure to rinse her thoroughly, and wash her bedding in hot water with bleach, and run the vacuum cleaner.I wouldn't put anything on the dog, though,as it could harm the puppy.

Frontline and Advantage are both great remedies for fleas. They are a little pricey, but very worth it. It is applied to the skin and enters their blood stream. When a flea bites the dog it dies. I had a kitten that had tons of fleas, and the vet said to go ahead and apply it to her. It worked like a charm. Call your vet, they are happy to answer these type of questions over the phone. If you don't have a vet, you need one anyway.

You can go get proper flea medication from the vet, and treat the fleas.. vaccum the house thoroughly..
Or find a new home for the baby, where there are no fleas.

I would definitely get some flea preventative, such as frontline, and if the fleas don't go away, the baby will get them, but once it is old enough to use medication the problem will be fixed.
You can get frontline from the vet or online.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

You'll get lots of answers for this question, but the easiest thing to do is to talk to your vet for advice. The vet can tell you how to treat your dog, home, and yard, as well as prescribe a preventative (like Revolution).
