SOLDIERS, why do you join the army!!?

Question

I am just wondering why some of you join? like for ur freedom, a better life or maybe to make a difference. Right?! Well i read this guys myspace and it kind of made me wonder what guys really think of joining!!www.myspace.com/boardong4now, his name is Toomey, u should read it, just want some info on why people join!!Please dont sound so negative!!

i shipped to basic may 00 at the age of 33 before the Sept 11 stuff

i wanted the challenge i missed not playing sports for about 12 years wanted to challenge my body, i also wanted to see Europe had Germany in my enlistment contract. i wanted to party in London for the millennium, and i wanted the 20 grand bonus for bills after being self employed as a wedding DJ and caterer for 12 years
i was a scout 19d in the infantry and cavalry
been deployed been in combat and came out alive, i count myself Lucky and successful in all i tried there

made NCO in 3 years, and did what all should do support my country in its time of need

Before I joined I was just a punk teenager going nowhere in life. Then I joined the army and it was the best thing I have ever done. Since I joined I now have a family a house and a over all good life. I dont think the military is for everyone but for a troubled youth its worth a shot.
