What are the advantages and disadvantagtes for creating websites with HTML rather than flash (and vice versa)?

Advantages of HTML:
Compatible with a lot of browsers
Easy to do for web designers

Disadvantages of HTML:
Designs look tacky
Takes too much time doing the coding

Advantages of Flash:
Nice layouts
Only HTML needed is the code to place the flash on the page

Disadvantages of Flash:
Takes too much time to do flash animation
Can sometimes slow down on slow machines
Can't save pictures in Flash
Can't right click in Flash

creating sites with just HTML as long as the code is kept tidy and the graphics are not too intense whole thing designed properly loads a lot faster than a flash designed site. HTML sites are also able to be viewed cross platform as well as cross browser where flash is limited

Flash requires flash player -- available for many platforms but not all. Flash sites typically take longer to load and are not as pleasing to view unless you are on broadband.

HTML is fast and universal -- but lacks some of the connection functionality (sockets) provided by Flash and Java.
