Well if you are a busy person I do not recommend a puppy they need allot of excersize. A good small dog is a dachshund. I have two. They are really smart and LOVE PEOPLE! They are good with kids and come in two sizes Standard and miniature. They also come in three different coats short hair, longhair, and wire hair. I like the short hair best but that's just me. Oh and soo many different colors too! They live usually 12-15 years. They hardly shed and don't leave hair all around the place. You have to be care full of their backs since they have such long backs. They are cute and make GREAT pets.

One of the coolest dogs I've ever had is a West Highland Terrier. As a younger puppy, she was awesome! Sweet as sugar. Always loving, licking and nuzzling against you, and when you wanted her to relax on your lap, she would always comply.
