sure, god is loving and all that, but also look:
he gets jealous
he gets fussy
he sends people to hell
he punishes
he forbids perfectly natural things
He wants you to FEAR him

Why worship a god that just seems like an abusive spouse?

I wouldn't say "GOD" is bad its more mans interpretation of god to be a vengeful god and if you don't do what "he'' says well then your going to Hell sounds like scare tactic to me now thats just a thought Me personally i don't Believe in the biblical "god" NOT SAYING there's not a god but what if there's a god and a goddess i mean it takes both energy's to create anything. the biblical god sounds to me like a bunch of old men got together and wrote the best selling Fiction book ever and if you haven't read the bible you should got a lot of good twist and turns once you got passed the Ole English crap

You are badly mistaken because you do not grasp the creator-creature distinction. The creator, who is all powerful, all-knowing, and all-present, is NOT equal to the creation. "Shall the clay say to the potter, "Why have you made me thus?"" Until you grasp this distinction, you will continue to erroneously impute human foibles to the creator.

God knows a heck of a lot more than I do. He also sees the Big Picture much better than I do. He knows what will give us the most joy in this life and the next. We are His children, and he wants us to do well while we are here...and like any parent...he disciplines His children as needed.

One of the reasons We are here to learn to have our spirits (that in us which is eternal) learn to master our bodies (that which is mortal of us) So, it is a matter of the Eternal having mastery over the mortal. There are rules on how to do this...and there are consequences when those rules are broken. Plain and Simple really. Denying this is one of the reasons to be here doesn't mean that the rules still don't apply.

In my opinion, because you cannot imagine being motivated by anything except fear I am sure that your statement makes perfect sense to you.

There are two kinds of motivation, fear based and desire based. Everyone is motivated at some times by both fear and desire. Everyone also has a predominate motivation, fear or desire.

I believe your motivation is primarily fear based because you appear consumed by the idea of fear based motivation.

Since people are motivated by both fear and desire at different times in their lives and are primarily motivated by one of these the Bible gives us both a fear and a desire based motivation.

To make it really simple for the very simple minded. If you fear only God and you desire only God you cannot be manipulated because your only motivation is God.

God is a Father. He wants to be respected, he wants to be included, he wants to be loved as your only Father, he doesn't want you to get into trouble, he punishes after he's given you too many warnings, sex always leads to and has a way of changing the relationship usually kinda awkward and wierd - someone always gets hurt. He knew that. Is that so bad? Yea. Fear him. He is the only reason you are breathing right now.

God is in many ways like a parent. You love them. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "he forbids perfectly natural things". God wants us to love him, fear what God is able to do to you, like destroy your very soul, Not God Himself.

Security..... knowing that everything you do bad, you can go "Hey god, about that....please forgive me" and BAM you're innocent again! Its all a convenient religion. If you followed the bible exactly you'd be just like that shirley phelps woman on TV. People just pick and choose what they want out of it and somehow convince themselves that they're following some laid out law in their heads.

He doesn't send people to hell, we send ourselves to hell when we do the wrong things. However we can get forgiveness if we ask.
I've thought the same thing--- I want answers but I just have to keep the faith.
Peace
