Okay, you guys are going to think I sound really dumb but I can't get this off of my mind. About a month ago I visited my cousins 3 hrs away. While there we visited a church and my cousin got to debating religion with this Baptist man.
The man used many examples in his speech some of which turned out to be freakishly true. EX: He said, "say you spit on your mom and she kicks you out of the house", when the night before I accidentally spit on my mom and she got really mad. Also, he referred to my other cousin whos name he didn't know as Suzie. And her name is Suzanne.
Then he said "Suppose you die in a car accident when you're 17.", Everything else he said about me was true...And I'm currently 16. I can't keep my mind off this. I overthink things way too much. And this is most likely me overthinking things. Can somebody comfort me/set me straight/help me out?
Thanks. And please no mean answers.

I want to assure you that you are in no more danger than any of us tonight. This is what happened: Baptists, along with other/many organized religions, use fear and guilt to "save souls." I know because I was a Baptist for 38 years. (I'm almost 70 so I got out a long time ago). If you were to go to almost any church this Sunday morning you would hear some of the same thing. This guy just happened to hit on a lot of coincidences. Why was he saying this sort of thing? What other purpose did it serve except to scare the living daylights out of you ~~ which it's done. He did not, and does not have supernatural powers and he was not able to see into your past or your future. He just wanted to scare you so you'd come to Jesus!!
If I haven't reassured you tonight, come back on here and let me know and I'll make arrangements to talk to you either with e-mail or in person. I'm an old lady so you don't have to worry about me being some sort of crazy predator. Okay?
I swear on my grandchildren's lives you are in no danger and you are going to be fine. Shake off all that s**t and do something really nice for yourself tonight. I'm really sorry you ran into this nut and have been worried all this time. If you're ever inclined to attend a church, find a Unity church. They're in every town, everywhere. You'll like it and they won't scare the bejesus out of you.

I don't think a man of God would predict your death in such an offhanded way. Did your mom actually kick you out of the house? Also, maybe he knew your cousin in a casual way or something. But in the long run, pray if you believe in god and try to put it out of your mind- even great prophets never saw all of their prophecies come true ok? Just live to the fullest and have no regrets, advice you should take whether you live to be 18 or 80. You can't know the future so do your best to let it remain a mystery.

So he said a few things that's making you crazy. you will have a lot of this in your life. You like to analyzes everything and sometimes things can't be explained. It doesn't sound weird to me,it just sounds like he was telling a story and he got lucky. In my opinion he is know man of god, what kind of person would do that to a 16 year old. He needs members that bad where he uses tactics such as that to lure in the young people shame on him.He should be removed from that church.

ok calm down. i understand why its easy to get paranoid about this kind of stuff (i do too!) but remember yes you and your mom got in a fight about spitting, but she didn't kick you out. it sounds like coincidence. just think: how CAN this be possible? i have never met this man before!...i used to have huge paranoia problems, so i understand that it can be hard to let go...just remember that worrying about it, wouldn't stop it if it were true. relax, live life and you will forget about it eventually. i sincerly, as an outsider, doubt its true. and sometimes my friends had to do this for me to: remind me how ridiculous or overthinking i was being, so trust me, you are going to be fine!

Honey you may have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It makes you think the same thoughts over and over and over. You mind just cannot get off of the thought. There is good news for you though. There is a drug call Luvox and is available only by prescription. You may want to talk to your doctor about it. It could help you out alot. Good Luck

sounds a little like a guilty conscience.
dont worry though just listen to what he said
if you worry about a car accident maybe it is a sign from God that you need to wear your seatbelt
i heard a joke one time that might sum it up for you
a man died and was at the pearly gates
he asked st peter why he died when he kept praying for God to save him from the flood
st peter said when the water started to rise i sent you a boat and you stayed in your home.
so when you were in the attic i sent you two boats and you sent them away too
then when you were on your roof i sent two boats and a helicopter and you sent them away too

what more could i do?

Watch the movie Life or Something like it with Angelina Jolie. Seriously, some profit guy tells her she is going to die in it and yeah. Just watch it and then you will feel better.

That does sound freaky, and I'm 16 also and that would freak me out. Just tell yourself everything is going 2 be alright and you'll get over it, and if it comes back in your mind go watch t.v or play video games or play outside, and if that don't help talk to your mom about it she will understand. I hope it will work about what I said, and Don't you worry God will protect you.

He didn't necessarily mean you. If you don't go to church maybe you should try one that believes in being saved because once you ask Christ into your heart you would never have to fear death again because you would be going to a place that is perfect (unlike earth) HEAVEN! There are numerous churches out there, if you have someone you trust talk to them about it. Please don't be scared because God loves you more than you realize, just begin to rely on Him instead of worldly beliefs.
