Simply put, the cover of darkness makes it easier. In fact I taught an old friend of mine who makes his living aranging for and bringing people into the US how to make use of that cover so he could show others how to do it.
In the dark people are more likely to dismiss movement as something other than a person (an animal, a shadow, trick of the light) and the greater distance, the harder it is to see someone. All one has to do is know how and they can get through fairly easily. ALSO...it is cooler in the summer and the danger of dehydration and heat related illness and death is is considerably less than during the day.

Because they think that if they can't see La Migra, La Migra can't see them. They don't realize the motion sensors and infrared night goggles give them away everytime.
But actually they cross all night and all day too.

Because they cant do it during the day or they might get caught. They want to live in our country because it is better than theirs and they can take our money and put it into their family funds in mexico and get better living quality.....not really fair to us that were here legally and cant get any assistance.....kinda sux.
