Dear Logan B,
First the Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all Scripture is profitable for: teacing, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
However if it's been awhile or if you're just starting out and you want to focus on the person of Jesus- i would suggest the Gospels- particularly the book of John.
i also suggest attending a church and a Bible study where you can study the Bible with a group of believers and have people who can help answer your questions.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

Hi Logan, how are you?
if you want to follow someone, I believe you will try to know that person first right? especially if you want to invite that person to come into your life.
To know Jesus personally and have your sins forgiven, you must believe that you are a sinner separated from God and that your only hope is Him, who came and died for your sins.
to obey God:
1. Recognize that you are a new creation, When you understand what God has don in your life, obedience becomes more of a desire than a mere duty (2 Cor 5:14-17)
2. Follow God Wholeheartedly when you follow God completely, you will finish the race of life well (Hebrews 12:1-3)
3. Offer God more than lip service. God looks at your heart more than your religious actions (Matt 23:25-28)
4. Live in God's love. Discover the secret of true and lasting joy (John 15:9-11)
5. Put on God's armor. Obedience prepares you for the battles of life (Rom 13:11-14)
6. Let God Occupy your thoughts. Your thoughts will affect your actions (Colossians 3:1-4)
and more..
so, I hope it answer your questions..
(p.s. sorry I'm not really good at explaining stuffs..)
=)

All of the New Testament. If I had to pick one it would be 1 Peter.
But reading the Bible, going straight to the source is absolutely the best way to determine what God wants of you.
And in my opinion, I think that the best way to gain knowledge and understanding of God's will is to think about how each verse that you read applies to YOUR life.
Get a good concordance and a good commentary (I use Matthew Henry), and you'll be well on your way to following Jesus

well there isn't a single specific book that u need to read, the whole bible is book of life but the more you read the more you will understand how jesus wants you to live your life... the bible says we should imitate christ, we should insamples of Jesus, and if jesus was able to teach from the old testament it just shows that we also we should be familiar with everything in the bible

The Bible is only a teaching tool....not the major or only guide for your life. The most important thing you can do is to allow Jesus and God to enter your heart (spirit) so that you may truly understand what it means to walk with them. Then and only then will you understand what the Bible is trying to teach you. Spend time in prayer....and in humble silence. The spirit will come to you. Be at peace.

Matthew, mark, luke, john, ephesians, 1 corinthians, 2 corinthians etc. etc.
Pretty much all the books in the new testiment tell you how to serve christ. Just look on the I-net for the specific verses or in the index of the good book.
P.S. I think I spelled ephesians wrong... oh well

Well then, stop being so hard on your self.
Realize you can't please God in your own efforts. Not going to happen.
Go about the process of being saved. Thus you will be born again and have a new heart for God to work with.
Further, be empowered with the Holy Spirit sent to be our Comforter and Teacher.
Find fellow Christians that work for you. How will you know it is right? It will feel like a family, like good friends.

What you read is not as important as how you read it. There are thousands of different Christian denominations out there that have countless different views on God, and all of them read from the same book. It is God that we are trying to follow not man and He has told us that the Holy Ghost will "teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance" we have also been told that "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." James gave some similar advice in his epistle "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
If you want to follow God, if you want to learn about God ask him for help. In the Book of Malachi God, speaking about tithing, told the people of his church "prove me now herewith" That statement applies to more than just tithing. God has told us that if we ask in faith He will help us to find what we are seeking. When you sit down to read start off with a prayer and ask God to help you understand that which you are about to read. If you ask with faith then you will be blessed with a greater understanding of what you are reading.
Another key to understanding is what you do with what you learn. Do you just read it think about how cool what your read is, or do you put into practice that which you learn? The latter will help you to further understand the things which you read.
Where to start reading? Anywhere is just fine just remember the purpose of what you are reading. The Old Testament was meant to bring the Jews from their slave minded idolatrous state to that of worshiping Christ. The New Testament is a record of what Christ did and taught. To learn a bout Christ the New testament is a good place to start. I would recommend just reading the whole thing from Matthew to Revelations. Just make sure to pray before you read regularly and practice what you learn.

I would start with the book of John. Once you feel you're ready for more, then the first book of Peter is a good place to get your feet firmly established. Read, pray and find a good church where you feel God is leading you to and you will grow in God.
