Yea, but it'll turn the check engine light on and give a E.G.R. valve code. You've got another problem other than the E.G.R. valve. If the valve isn't working right it will turn on the check engine light and give a code.

On my old 3.3 I was throwing a code for the egr valve as well. In the end it was corrosion in the egr transducer. If you follow the vacume line off the egr valve it will lead you right to it. Disconnect the plug and check the connection. If its full of corrosion clean it up and see if that works otherwise time for a new one!

you can leave it on it and just disconnect it and see if that's it,if it runs a lot better id replace it with a new one,its a part of the emissions control system, and will work a lot better with it, than without it,good luck on it.

nope it is a required emissions part. it recirculates the exhaust gasses to be re burnt.
