Also her children if she is divorced? Or do they have to be married? Are there any known "special conditions" that would allow such a thing?

No. She only becomes eleigible for TriCare when they are married. The children cannot receive ID cards and entry into Tri Care until that marriage as well. And they will have to be adopted by the military father. There's no "special condition" to cover shacking up.

sorry, you must be married. But when you marry, and her children are living full time with you, they are all eligible for tricare and any other benefits. the military step Dad does not need to adopt them. just claim as dependants. (husband did 20 years Navy and i had 2 boys from a previous marriage.)

nope. marriage certificate is needed before she and any kids can be entered on a Page 2 and be eligible for TRICARE. if she marries him, and the kids live with her at least half time, they also are covered under Step Dad's insurance.

in order for children to be covered alone, they must be the legal children(adopted or otherwise) of the Servicemember.

BTW: military regs do NOT recognize Common Law marriages. marriage certificate or nuthin'.

To be eligible for Tricare, you have to be eligible for Deers. The only way you can be eligible for DEERS is to get married to the guy. When you do, automatically you will be enrolled and also your children if you are the primary custodian. The only special circumstance that might help you is if that if you have lived together for a while and qualify under the common-law marriage in your state.

Nope you have to be married, even an engagement means nothing to the military as far as Tricare goes.
