What websites should I check out if I am interested in the sights and sound of NYC?

I've never been to New York but hope to someday, I would like to know some good websites about places, restaurants, etc.. that I could checkout. Any input???

From an insider's perspective: One of my favorite NYC websites is gothamist.com. It's a blog about the city intended for residents, but it's got lots of city news, restaurant reviews, events listings, etc. Also try timeout.com/newyork and nymag.com.
