I live in California. My payment for my speeding ticket was due today and I got at the court to pay it at 4:30 p.m. thinking it closes at 5 p.m. I tried to pay it online but it won't let me because I need to live in a certain county. I'm going first thing in the morning tomorrow, anyone know what will happen?

You should be ok, just make sure you are there first thing in the morning, otherwise if you wait too long, you could end up with a warrant issued in your name.

Most likely it will be more expensive. Most states simply start adding to the original fine after the first due date. In NY the increasing schedule used to be printed on the back of ticket. As long as it wasn't a desk appearance summons, I think you'll be okay as long as you bring some extra cash.

They will not arrest you the ticket hasn't had time to get into the warrant system. Call them to make sure before going but usually they will let you pay the fine on the spot.

They usually suspend your drivers license if you are late. The worst that happens is you'll have to pay a reinstatement fee at the DMV after you pay the speeding ticket.

Just don't get pulled over again until you get it paid!

One day? Probably you'll get a dirty look from the clerk, but nothing more.
Good luck.
