I think it's more likely than not.
Lokk at the size of the Bible and anyother Holy book. Look how thick those books are, only a woman would have that much to say.

Look at how incrdible a woamn's womb is, so special that even a woman with a life threatning decease has a chance to give birth to a healthy baby. Look at their breats. Theirs work ours don't.

Look at a mother compared to a father, it seems God is more motherly.

I am a Catholic but I think this is possible. I mean the bible has been changed by man, it's proven that books were excluded by the church so we can't always rely on one point of view as the truth all the time.

I am talking about God not Jesus. It's been proven Jesus was a man.

Lovely thoughts. It is the 'nurturing' aspect, the Feminine Principle, the Sacred Feminine that us Pagans chose to be close to. Same essence. It is the male orientation of God that is embellished upon in organized religion. Odd, though, we all are aware of a Living Presence. It's just the humanizing of it that causes so much conflict. Its all in the interpretation and defining that births wars.
The nurturing Goddess aspect of this Living Presence is what we focus on, even though we have a God too. The Masculine Principle. Both are Principles. Both are loved. Both are within us all.
Love your last paragraph, so open minded.
Hope you explore this further.
Blessed Be

"God" is a human word. The same as Male and Female. I don't think it matter whether you think God is a Male or a Female. That's because I don't think we, humans, have the appropriate word to describe God.

RE: Women, trust me, giving birth is not easy. And, giving birth change our, women, body. We women can gain 20 lbs easy from being pregnant. The belly fat is very hard to get rid of after giving birth. Breast, do you think women enjoy nursing? Some women do and some don't. People celebrate mother's day more than father's day because of a few things:
- A mother gives birth. I am sure you know which part of female's body babies come out from. Imagine the size of that thing and the size of a baby.
- A mother nurses the baby (that's another hard thing).
- A mother wakes up in the middle of the night to feed the baby (new babies need to eat every 3 hours).
- When a kid has a boo boo, who do you think make it go away? A mother.

There are a lot of other things that mothers do. Being a woman is not as wonderful as you think.

If you read the book of Proverbs, you will see that a part of God is the mother. Indeed if we (male and female) are created in his image then I would think that we are all in a sense part of the whole so I don't have a problem seeing God as feminine (or a female). I mean that not so much in term of physical gender but in the spiritual sense. When I think of God in the most complete of ways, I must think of him as female and male, creator and destroyer, etc. all at the same time because that is what he happens to be. Whether or not I understand or believe it does not change the truth of it. God is all things good at once...I thank God for all the blessings he has bestowed upon you and I...take care...

um God is male Goddess would be a female form :-) someone pointed that out recently, agreed... but

on the length of the manuscript - just observe the length of sermon in many Monotheistic namely Christian churches - or listen to 2 man rant on

men can talk for hours in my experience... and not make any point... lol.... not trying to imply similarities...

if God has to make a man by his image, um, who do we have only females giving births? Genetic mistake?
Why doesn't he create only men and no women.... um... create... dislike the word.

Anyways could give some more points, and, prior to the Monotheism, what about all the venus figurines representing mother cult worship, such as Venus of Willendorf or centuries of Mother Worship?

Think.

You make some good points, but all you show is how much God loves women Himself. He created us with wonderful bodies, each a perfect fit to her mate.

But, God isn't a woman, not because of the physical aspect, but because of His actions and thoughts:

If God were a woman, it wouldn't have taken 6 days to create the Heavens and earth, she'd have had it all done in one day and taken the next 6 off to go shopping.

If God were a woman, then His response to Cain's question "am I my brother's keeper?" would have been "Heck yeah you little smart aleck, I TOLD you to watch out for your little brother, earth is a big scary place".

If God were a woman, a man's d**k would be on his chin.

If God were a woman, the wise men would have showed up on time, helped deliver the baby and left more practical gifts.

If God were a woman, He would have figured out a way for men to have blood in both heads at the same time.

I like your book of Wisdom, pity the Protestants threw it out. In there you have a creator Goddess ("architect"), a divine emanation (see also Proverbs 8 for the same goddess, and the Protestants couldn't remove that one so easily, lol). Over the ages they tried hard to remove all traces of polytheism, but it's still there. I also like your Mary, Queen of Heaven, this is a nice touch. And let's get real, if you have a Father and a Son, where's the Mother? Earliest christians taught about the "Father-Mother in Heaven", but of course this was considered heresy so they rejected what they didn't like.

God is the source and creator of all that is.
To limit God to just a man or woman doesn't get it.
But He does refer to Himself as Father so he prefers to let His masculine qualities define a mental image for us.
But really below the surface levels men and women are more alike than different.

Only earthly creatures have genders. We have physical bodies, God is a spirit.( John 4:24) He doesn't have a body like us. Because He is a spirit person and not a thing, it wouldn't be appropriate to call God "it" so generally we refer to God as "He".

Because He created both male and female, and we are created in His image (Genesis 1:26) then it makes sense that we see motherly and fatherly qualities in His personality revealed through the Scriptures. The good qualities we are capable of as humans (love, gentleness, kindness, goodness) all come from our Creator.

That's nice that you notice the good qualities in women. Many men don't view them as God would want them to, to respect them. Not degrade them or berate them.

Hurray! Someone else who believes! Problem is (no offense) that the males of the higher church order wrote women out of the picture giving them a lesser and lesser role in the church since they feared the women and what they could do. It was their way of keeping women as slaves. (again no offense to men in general.)

You may be right, but my grad prof is male, and he admires a thick book too. He assigns those 900-page tomes that no one can read in a single semester and he stands up in front of the class, gripping the things like they're hoagies or footballs or hand grenades, I dunno, openly praising their length, while the students groan as they realize that they won't be womanizing and drinking and puking like it's Mexico outside. Not until spring break, anyway.
