This is for Christians who believe in evolution. If you don't fall under this category, don't waste both our time posting in this question.
If you believe in evolution, and Genesis says God created us in his image, then is God a group of amino acids?

Yes, but I'm referring to the starting point of evolution. If Christians believe in evolution, surely they wouldn't overlook the beginning of said process.

So yes, Gerz, that was indeed my intentional question.

OK, but only Atheists who believe in Intelligent Design are allowed to ask this question with these restrictions.

Anyway, micro-evolution (dogs having relations with other dogs to get GASP! different dogs, cats over generations morphing into WOW other cats) is the only scientifically verifiable evolution. All other evolution is a religion which boils down to believing you came from a rock.

Wait a minute... where or who made amino acids??? Nothing came from nothing & with space being so compilcated for us to all understand, everything about space, why are we 93 million miles away from the sun, if any farther we would freeze & we'll you know the rest... So what your saying that out of nowhere the big bang just happen... explain to me where all the gasses came from & the rest of it... hmmm something to really think about... So if a tornado went through a junk yard & pick up all kinds of metals & debree & while in the tornado an airplain was created... for the most part that doesn't make sense neither does evolution... nothing came from nothing. God at hand is smarter than me & you & all of his creation... evolution is an excuse for not believing in God/Jesus. Evolution is only a theory... take Xbox for example, well someone made that, right... the only evolution part about that is, Xbox360 came out... take time & think

No, you have to read it much more symbolically. You're STILL being too literal. One of the main points about saying that we are made in God's image is that it aligns with the command not to have any "graven images". The Jews were not to make idols or depictions of God, because God had already shown them what He looks like: he looks like the person next to you. When His people act poorly, it is a reflection upon God. It's all part and parcel of the idea that the pagan deities of Egypt and Canaan (and really everywhere else too), didn't care how you treated each other, as long as you showed THEM the proper respect. The God of Moses was different, because what he really cared about was how people treat each other. Hope that all makes sense?
Peace to you.

Actually nevermind...I misread your post. Forget I wrote anything.
Abiogenesis and evolution are indeed two seperate processes but your original question does actually stand as it is for christians who do believe in evolution and thus that we were amino acids and created in his image.
I apologize as I just misread your question. To be honest, a lot of it was just force of habit of having to make that correction but, like I said, your line of reasoning is sound.

God created man in his spiritual image. Our bodies belong to the Homo Sapiens species. Our souls are his handiwork.
This makes perfect sense if you consider the following:
Jesus makes it clear what it is he came to save. Our bodies are of this world, our souls are what count, they are made to resemble God's. Jesus warns, "if your right leg causes you to sin, cut it off. Better to enter the Kingdom with one leg than to have your body with two legs thrown into the lake of fire".
Under the old covenant, the Jewish men were circumcised, a mark on the body to seal their covenant. Under the new covenant, Jesus says that all who are saved are circumcised in their hearts, a mark on the soul to seal the new covenant.
Our bodies are primate bodies. Our souls are godly souls.

God is spirit...not material or mass...therefore no, not amino acids. My personal belief is that we are created in his image from a spiritual perspective only...not physically.

I believe in evolution, but not that we evolved from microbiota.
I believe that because of the limited gene pool of Adam and Eve and their children, great genetic mutations and because of that we have many different races, features, etc...and because of the mixing of races, we're coming back to what the original man was...or pretty close to it.

This is a public forum btw, not yours
You will bow and confess to those "amino acids" someday
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rom 14:11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phl 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;
