Melatonin is a natural body chemical that regulates your sleep patterns. You have a lot of stress on you right now. Buy a bottle of Melatonin and try it. It does not make you feel drugged or rummy, it just helps you get to sleep.

There is no way anyone can say you are mean or selfish for wanting to get some rest. You are giving to your cousin out of the goodness of your heart and sadly that is not something which happens often these days. Try regulating what your cousin has to eat or drink for three hours prior to his going to sleep. Milk, although not a big favorite anymore, will take less of an affect before bed than water, soda or coffee. Also have him use the restroom prior to going to sleep. As for you, try some Tylenol PM if it agrees with you. It doesn't usually make you groggy in the morning. Remember to take some time for yourself to relieve some of the stress you are under...it will help you rest a lot better than anything else. Good luck to you and your cousin.

Our bodies naturally make Melatonin, but for different reasons as we age or in his case it might be the accident he might need a little extra melatonin. You can buy it at the Health Food Stores. Try 5 mg. at first each night and see if he doesn't sleep a little longer.
Another reason he wakes up at the time could be because he is going to sleep too early at night. Perhaps try letting him stay up later at night might help. Another idea is to limit his intake of liquids at night. Don't let him have liquids past maybe 6 or 7 o'clock at night. He might not even need the Melatonin if you keep him awake longer at night or limit liquids late at night.

Try talking to him about your concerns. Explain to him that for your sanity, you need sleep. Explain to him that you realize how humiliating it must be to wake each morning with a wet diaper as a reminder of the accident. Work together to figure out things that may help. Try cutting off fluids earlier in the evening and avoid diuretic drinks like coffee and tea. Also maybe going to the bathroom before bed may help. Bless you both and Good Luck!

If he wakes up crying because of having a wet diaper, it's probably not because of the wet diaper, but because he has lost an important control of his body. He is probably hurting because of this loss just like someone who lost a limb, or some other function of their body. Maybe he has lost another important function of that organ, too. Just let him know it's okay. You understand, and it will get better, and easier to take as time goes by.
Good luck. Some things just take time.

Sad story, but you do need rest, during the day try sleeping when he's sleep. When he's awake play games with him like puzzles/cards/roll the ball/get him some toy cars to play with/ while he's awake make sure he's busy. Coloring book/just books to make him think he's reading ,fun and lots of laughs. You are in my prayers, I had a bother with issues you mention he was a handful,LOVE can go a long way.

he seems like such a cute boy. well the best thing for you is go to the doctor and get some ambiem or go get tylenol pm. both will work. you take it for 8 hours and you take it when he goes to sleep. it helps relax you. now it can become abit habit forming but all sleep aids can but i took ambein for 1 1/2 years and i stopped day i retired nothing happened so its not that bad. i sure hope he can come out of this. maybe trying to talk to him about this can help him better understand this. i am not sure where his head is right now. can he function fairly well.... if he can try and talk abit to try and help him

set an alarm for him so that he wakes up a little earlier so that when it happens he is ready and can just go without disturbing you
