I can't run a disk clean up either... it ALWAYS shuts down in about 2 minutes after starting the clean up.

Check the fan on your processor and see if it's running. also the one in the power supply. you may need to clean it out. use your vacuum but try not to bump anything to hard. also check your cmos and see if your CPU temp cut off it to low.

Here is an analogy I came up with recently when someone I know was doing this. When you go to bed at night, would you rather go through a routine that winds you down and gets you ready for bed (brush teeth, put on PJs, wash up, turn off the lights, etc) or would you rather have someone punch your head and knock you out, every night? I'm guessing you would prefer the first option. But what you are doing to your computer is just as bad as the second option. Your computer needs to be told to shut down, so it can wrap things up, and set system files the way they should be. If you unplug it, some files will be left in bad condition, and over time your operating system will start to fail. Eventually you will have so many corrupted files that you will have to reinstall your operating system, after wiping the hard drive completely clean. If you have never had to do this before, you must know that it is a serious pain in the ***.

OVERHEATING AND POWER SUPPLY ISSUES ARE THE TWO MOST COMMON CAUSES OF THIS

try measuring the cpu temp and look at the rpms in the bios-many BIOS list these parameters. I took the side panel off of my pc and airflow form a six inch dia. 3- speed "table" fan on it. not elagant but solved the problem/

Oh, do you have a lot of extra peripherals that run off of the pc's p/s...like several USB devices, a seconhard drive, ext. DVD ETC....these can tax the power supply.

Also just for grins-defrag your hard drive

good luck

May be overheating. If it is a laptop, make sure the fan area is free of dust and not clogged. Make sure it is sitting on a hard surface. Desk top, check the fan.

Good luck

Check all your connections to see if they are all plugged in securely. Sometimes something gets loose.
