I use one of my Yahoo addys on this account. (I have many.) It doesn't matter. For some reason, people seem to be under the impression that you'll lose your Yahoo ID and email account if you get deleted from Y!A... NOT true. It's true that you can't delete your Answers account yourself without deleting your main Yahoo account/addy. But Yahoo doesn't delete your main account/addy (unless you violate Yahoo TOS elsewhere). If you violate Y!A TOS, they ONLY delete your ANSWERS account. If your main account/addy gets deleted it's either a fluke or you violated TOS elsewhere (Yahoo! Groups, for example). Understand what I'm saying? Don't believe me? If not then find out for yourself... Log into an account that's been deleted on Y!A and try to use your Y! email or join a Y! group... It'll work.

EDIT: And, by the way, hiding your email on Y!A is just that...hiding your email... That's all it is. It simply hides the link. In other words, it does NOT disable the email function. It just hides the link. If someone knows the link to email you from Y!A then that person can do so. Just thought I'd mention that since someone mentioned emailing from Y!A.

Lol, I use my actual account. I made that mistake from the beginning. I should really go and get a different account just for answers, but then I'd have to start all over. Still, I have enough sense to stay out of the politics section (mostly). And I rarely piss off the hard-core crowd.

Peace to you.

Edit: Laptop, I didn't know that. So if my answers account gets deleted, my e-mail will still be ok?

I have two email addresses. One for work and close friends and family. The other for anything that might be a mass emailing, less close friends and family, and for newsletters I sign up for. I check them both daily (at least) but my Yahoo account/my mass emailing/junk mail account, I don't worry about it if I don't check it as often, or if I don't feel like responding (right away or at all). I do try to safeguard my work account and only give it out to those who either BCC everything, or who delete the headers of emails they forward. I've been known to send an email from work to Yahoo so I can email it out and not have to worry about contaminating my work account.

I use my yahoo email, but I also have another email account as well. My notifications go to the other account.

Are you kidding? It's too easy to lose everything, so my mail is on a separate account, one that never enters the world of Yahoo! Answers.

Use another!

Actually, it's not as critical as it used to be. It used to be, when they nuked your account, it took your main email with it. They've fixed that now.

But no, I have one for here and one for my 360. And like 3 others for "other mail."

(((hugs and I hope things are going well)))

I foolishly used my 8 year old account to answer questions and it got deleted, so I recommend NOT using your proper, serious account...
